First of all, yo should come over to V8Monza.com. It is a much busier
and nicer web site. A lot more people with a lot more answers. And
Yes, V8 Monza.com is for more than just V8 HBodies. We are very
active with all types of HBody cars.
Your trans is probably a TH200 (there were no 200Rs in the 70s) 2nd
gen HBody cars came with a variety of automatic and manual
transmissions over their production years of 75 thru 80. You can
install a TH350 behind that small V6. You will need one from a Buick
to get the right bellhousing bolt pattern. However, the TH350 will
require a lot more HP to spin it. It takes about 35 HP to rotate a
TH350. The tiny 2.3L V6 will probably feel rather sluggish. How about
a 4 or 5 speed trans. Can't say about the driveshaft swap. Why don't
you install a 3.8L V6 or A 305 or 350 V8 along with a TH350 - a much
better setup. Hope this helps.
