A members only group for BMW E39 (525i, 528i, 530i, 540i, M5, etc., 1997-2003) owners. The group charter is civilized and sane discussion of our favorite BMW.

Entry to the group requires only an introductory email to the group telling us about yourself, your BMW history/interests and a valid signature line stating your name, current car(s) and where you live (see example below). Introductions lacking a signature will be denied.

The group moderator will accept or deny your introductory message. Approved intro messages are passed along the group. Denials are returned to the poster and will include a message from the moderator explaining why you were denied and how to remedy it (don't take it personally, it's usually something simple.) Once you've sent a satisfactory intro message - you'll also be permitted for unmoderated posting to the group. This policy completely eliminates spammers getting into the group.

Each and every email to the group must contain a signature at the bottom of the message. A signature identifies the author to everyone and greatly lessens the urge to flame.

Persistent posts without signatures, flaming, repeated "For Sale" postings or numerous off-topic posts are all grounds for removal from the group.

An example of a simple introduction message (with signature) could be:

I just bought a CPO 525i Touring with 43,000 miles
and I’m interested in learning more about the fabled
E39 and hearing about other people’s experiences.

The reasons for the rules outlined above will become obvious once you start to particpate in the group. No flames, no spam, intelligent discourse on our favorite BMW. Doesn't get any better.
