Cheers!
Thanks for the help guys, I now have to admit that I haven't had a
chance to get back to looking at it, one thing and another including
the weather.
When I changed the dizzy I took off the rocker cover, turned the
engine to compression on Cylender 1, lined up the timing mark and
then said "right the rotor should now be pointing to number 1" and
sorted the leads out from there.
I have run a stroboscope on it for the timing and have noticed that
the strobe light does falter occasionally, but not regulary enough to
make the same 2 cylenders not fire.
We did have a go at re-setting all the valve clearences, but Phil
managed to strip a nut on one of the rockers for cyl 2, he hadn't put
much force on the spanner either. We are left at the moment with one
nut with the smoothest inside I have ever seen and this thread firmly
stuck on the bolt on the rocker. we are trying to figure out how to
cleanly remove said thread so we can continue with a new nut.
If the head gasket was blown between cyl 2 & 3 would you still get a
good compression reading? The head has been off the car about 6
months ago and not being a daily driver car has not done a huge
distance since then.
If it doesn't rain or freeze at the weekend we hope to attack it
again.

Well summer is coming, and the show season is in full swing.
This July 11th sees the Big Mini meet, at Fort Nelson, Royal
armouries
museum. Portsmouth UK.
This is a free entry show, with traders, autojumble, interclub
competition,
show and shine and a treasure hunt.
There is a special car park for non club cars, on top of 300 club
car spaces
inside the fort itself.
It also features a live band playing two sets, archery displays and
a whole
host of fun.
It is open to all Minis old and new.

The Barspeed Mini World 45 Show Gallery has been updated with more of
the pictures of my car.
Soon i will be uploading other cars in another gallery.

Having read and re read your problem, i can only think of a timing
fault. Having changed the dizzy, i presume you placed it back in the
same way as the other came out, why not start from scratch, use a
stroboscope and check the timing marks etc and compare that with what
its supposed to be, i dont have my manual here at the moment to tell
you what it should be for a 67 998.
Other than that, have you removed the spark plugs that are not
working and turned the car over to check for a spark at the electrode?
They might be sparking after all, hence the timing fault. I had a
Ford Anglia once, i had a nasty habit of fitting the dizzy 180
degrees out, looked fine and started but back fired when revved until
i turned it back or forward and checked the points gap again.

The new flash intro sometimes sticks on my computer until i refresh
the screen, and also it may be a little big as some of the buttons
are just off my screen anyway.
Handy coming by a 2nd hand flash maker, normal cost would have been
hundreds! Got it for a favour in the end :-)

Hi All,
My son has a 1967 Mini Deluxe with a 998 engine.
Currently it will start OK and seem fine till we drive it and it
comes up with practically no power. Investigation at this stage by
pulling plug leads shows that cylenders 2 & 3 are not firing.
We have changed the plugs, we have swapped plugs and leads over and
it still is 2 & 3 that don't fire.
Today we changed the whole distributer and coil and checked the valve
clearences. We have checked the cylendar compression.
It is getting plenty of fuel and still 2 & 3 don't want to work.
It's driving us nuts.
Charlie
Hi Jono,
I like the new look for the website and it works well.

Some of you may remember that last year there was a member here that
liked adding thier penny worth to dicussions, one was about some
nonscence about middle eastern issues and the price of fuel.
This member turned out to be a certain individual that wasnt who they
said they were and i promptly banned them.
Shortly after they joined the group again, quite obviously so as
osmam bin laden and again attempted to spoil the peice of this group.
A member joined some time ago using an email address served by a
company called boxfrog, they were not allowed membership due to an
inappropriate profile.
Another member, a female joined and was given full entitlements to
the group. This member has recently changed thier name to that of a
mans.
The profile name is hodeidah.
No knowing what this until due reason to check its meaning, have
found that it is a city in Yemen, a sort of base for al Qaeda
activity, and hence the connection with osama bin laden is repeated
again.
I beleive the person that was and is responsable is an old person
that i once knew, funny enough who worked in such parts of the world.
For some reason I have upset this individual inspite of attempting to
remain distant if not isolated from any contact from him.
I have decided for a third if not fourth time to ban membership.
Just so you know.
Sorry for spoiling your peice.
Bye for now.
Jono
Thanks for the info.
Measures have been taken to stop this occuring from source again.
Its a little confusing as well as the source up until recently was
called primrose and was female but now is John and obviously a bloke?
Maybe when the source of the email reads the group postings it might
like to shed light on why its computer has an infestation?
Never mind

I must agree with you all, I am getting fed up with the mini only
seen, even the light relief of the BMW has not enhanced these things.
I think that I shall gravitate to more classic car events and
probabley do two or three mini only events in a year
Echoeing what people have said, the show, with its high quality cars,
good selection of traders and reasonable attratctions was a little
disappointing.
I have to admit being quite bored at times, the talks proved to be
interesting, the sump show bizzare to say the least and russ swift
performing the same as ever, samey but none the less impressive.
It was good to see new mini's separate from classics.
All said and done, i wont do sandown again ever, been there and done
it, maybe in another 5 years?

What is it all about, 45 years, hardly a milestone, why don't we wait
for 50 and then have a biggie.
Shows seem to be ott for what is not a significant aniversary. We

attendance has been observed, less minis, less autojumble, are they

Hello!
Sorry for the late posting, but I have been very busy of late, and
like I have been threatening for months if not years, i havent had
time to update the website recently...
A new look (again, groan) website will be here soon hopefully...
More news though, I am very pleased to announce that today after
lots of hard work by my Girlfriend and myself to get the car cleaned
up and shiny, I won the best Standard Special Edition Car of Mini
World 45 in Sandown Park, London.
I was very shocked and surprised quite honestly, I have a whopper of
a trophy on my mantle and expect to have a picture of me in the 45
edition of Miniworld.
Thanks for your continued interest.
