Hi,
If you look in my photos JB  you will see how I add an in line sensor and connected to a Smith water Gauge and remove the normal Skode one
very simple to do

While we are talking about guages, does anyone got a spare water guage? I just need to compare the readings i am getting on mine. I think the needle is not calibrated properly. Or is there an easy way to put an additional sensor/thermometer on the coolling system.

i have an old fuel guage with a low level light built in, i do not know if it works as i had it with all the other spares that came with the car.
