Sorry I slipped up. The engine is an (F) head as the hood has been bubbled for
carb clearance.

weekend. See you at the next meeting!! puttputt56
For those that weren't at the last meeting, The Christmas party is December
11th, Friday night at 6:30 at the Crest Bar & Grill Club House. They are
serving a buffet of deep pit and all of the trimmings. The cost is $20 per
person (includes the tip). If you are planning on going please call Sandy at
661-587-6888 to tell her how many will be going. We need to give the restaurant
a head count before the party.
We are still doing the gift exchange, so Men bring a man gift, ladies a woman's,
kids a kid gift.

Sandy wants me to remind everyone that she needs to know if you are going to
Calico and need an RV space. She has to release the the unused spaces by Nov
30th or the club has to pay for them. There are still spaces available and we
need to know if your name is on one of them. Call her at 661-587-6888 before

Subject: [Bakersfield Trailblazers] MEETING IN BAKERSFIELD TONIGHT 11/18
Making sure everyone sees this. Support in numbers!
My Daughter & I have something to do tonight, so I can't go.
Here's Chris's email:
IMPORTANT TO ATTEND FOREST SERVICE MEETING IN BAKERSFIELD TONIGHT 11/18
The Forest Service is proposing to do some much needed Reforestation work in the
Piute burn area. They are proposing to remove some burned trees to reduce the
fuel loads and for safety. They are also proposing to plant some trees to speed
reforestation.
However due to comments probably from Sequoia Forest Keepers, they have added
Alternative C to the Reforestation Project and this proposes to decommission or
close about 9 miles of roads. They would rip the roads out using fire funds.
These roads may not be important, but we are concerned this is being proposed
when the Route Designation Plan is being done, which is supposed to deal with
roads.
The Forest Service held a meeting in Ridgecrest two days ago and it was attended
by anti access people supporting the proposed road closures except for Ron
Schiller of High Desert Multiple Use. We made sure the Lake Isabella meeting was
well attended by people in favor of keeping roads open as well as supporting the
Reforestation Project Alternative B to promote forest health.
I am afraid that the Bakersfield meeting will be well attended by the Sierra
Club, so I am hoping you will attend to ensure the Forest Service hears from the
public that we want to keep our roads open and that we support the Reforestation
Project Alternative B. Stewards will be submitting written substantive comments,
but we want to make sure the Forest Service gets a clear polite message at the
Bakersfield meeting that the public are concerned about any proposed road
closures.
MEETING from 6-8 pm 11/18/09
East Bakersfield Veterans Hall
2101 Ridge Road
Looking at the roads propose to be closed in the Reforestation DEIS I find that:
* 28S24D leads to an area that I have seen hunters camp in most years, so this
seems to be an important road
* 28S24C goes to an old mine cabin site, which was incinerated
* 28S24B, 27S02E,28S30, 28S33, 28S43 or 28S18A are spurs that may or may not be
important to the public
* The end of 28S24 does not seem to be used much by 4x4 as evidenced by the
lack of clearing downed trees on it. It is used by motorcycle to connect Dry
Meadow single track trail to Steve Springs Single track.
* 28S17A is a short steep dead end road at Dark Canyon that should probably be
closed. I have not seen any use on it
* 28S23 may be an important road for hunting or dispersed camping
* 27S02F is on a steep sidehill so there is no camping off of it and it
parallels 27S02 . Since the single track trail 33E65 becomes this road and then
goes back to single track it might be advisable to covert the road to trail to
avoid ATV incursion on this single track.
Sorry for the short notice. Please be sure and say hi to me at the meeting.
Thanks Chris Horgan, Executive Director Stewards of the Sequoia

Hi All,
I recived a call from Bob with the forest service,he had two people off sick
this week and did not get the materials ready for the project, and there calling
for a good chance of rain in the area Friday and Saturday morning. This would
make for muddy working conditions. The run this weekend, to do trail work has
been canceled. I will let you know when we will be able to do this project.
Thank You, Jon

Hi guys,
I wanted to extend an invitation to my friends in the Trail Blazers Club to
join me out at the Hammers over Thanksgiving.
I will be there 11/21 thru 11/29.
We will be running trails daily that are appropriate for the vehicles
present.
On Thanksgiving day, we will be cooking the main dish for everyone (who
RSVP's)!
All you need to do is bring a side dish. :)
Send me an email if you think you can make it.
Thanks!
Regards,
Tony Pellegrino

I have two $50.00 gift coupons for Tom Woods. If your in need of a drive shaft
and can use one of these let me know. First come first serve. I think this is
better than putting them in another raffle and someone getting them that can't
use them. They expire Feb 2 2010. call me or post an answer to this post.
Does anyone going on the work trip on Nov. 21st have a small jeep trailer to
haul some 8' post, carsonite post and carsonite pounders. The forest service
has an old jeep trailer we have used before, but if I remember it still had the
old pintel hitch on it. I have ask Bob to let me know about the hitch. Thanks,
Jon
Trailblazers of Bakersfield,
Tonight is our monthly meeting. The meeting starts at 7:30, in the
dining room of the Crest Bar and Grill (Pacheco and Wible, with the
entrance south of Pacheco on Wible). Stop in before the meeting and
check out the menu, have a beer on the patio, or just come in to
harass the President.
Mahalo,
Jess
