This list is dedicated to Suburbans of all vintages, primarily 4x4, that get used in the backcountry along with the usual people moving & trailer towing duties. Tahoes and Yukons are also welcome.

Topics may include (but are not limited to) such things as modifications, trip planning and reports, land use info, How To's, and anything else related to using your Suburban to explore the backcountry (dirt roads), towing, camping AND hauling the rugrats. Daydreaming is encouraged.

The impetus for this list is my own desire to replace my '80s burb and build a late-model burb to complement and tow my rockcrawler jeep, yet keep said enhancements subtle enough so that my wife will still want to haul the kids around in it without feeling like she is driving an Urban Assault Vehicle.

As the backcountry excursions planned for this suburban are of the exploratory/camping nature rather than the challenge type that my jeep is built for, modifications will be planned accordingly, hopefully influenced by the discussion on this list. Preliminary mod plans include a multimount winch with a hidden receiver in the front, rear locker, appropriate tires in a slightly larger size, subtle skid plating, onboard air & shower, and much, much more.
