I had a conversation with Pete Neimeier of MMRA today and also with
one of the employees of ARP bodies (they make the new BG body). I
called the guys at ARP to see if I could get the hinges and latches
so I could retrofit a roof hatch to our BG with the old body. The
guy at ARP said that they use Velcro as the latch for the back of the
hatch. Upon reading the MMRA Pro Road Racing Rule Book, I found rule
9.3 (p.6, IIRC), which states "Velcro latches are not allowed". I
wrote to Mr. Neimeier about this and my paraphrasing of his response
was that they do have some I's to dot and T's to cross regarding the
rulebook, but that the competition committee will soon be convened to
address this. The NutDrivers have chassis #0084, which is an early
run chassis. Turns out, there is bracing now put around the fuel
cell that our chassis didn't come with. You can compare your
chassis's rear tube configuration to the pics under "Baby Grand" at
NutDriver.org to see if you have the newer or older style chassis.
If your chassis matches ours, I have a pic of the rear of the new
chassis that I'll be happy to share.
