Re: Freelance Writer wanted!
Story: HELPING A FRIEND AND FELLOW VIETNAM VET!
We are seeking a freelance writer that would donate their time
to help us by writing a short story or article about J's project.

When we started this project we were looking for a used Harley
Davidson or Honda Goldwing trike for J! Well that didn’t
workout too well, then we tried to get manufacturers to
donate a trike that also was a no go. Then we had a person
donate a used Voyager kit for an 88-92 Honda Goldwing motorcycle,
this kit allows you to make a three wheeler out of a two wheel motorcycle.

He was riding home from work late
evening in August 2000 when a semi truck driver fell a sleep
at the wheel and ran him off a bridge. He fell about 25 feet
to the rocks below, the fall was so great his 1999 Harley
softail broke into 2 pieces. J suffered a 8 broken bones,
a ruptured spline and hearing damage. He has had 10 operations
since then and has to wear leg braces and use forearm crutch's
to walk.

J lost his job and now is unable to work, he filed bankruptcy
in 2002. J has been a bike rider for over 30 years and myself
and some friends have been working ourbutts off to get him
back on the road again. As this would make his life more enjoyable.
We acquired a Voyager kit (Kit to make a bike into a trike) and
now we are going at raising the money to buy him a "good" used
motorcycle to go with it. It has been hard as people don't understand
what he has gone through and how much this will make his life complete
again.

J like many others gave his all when he left for the military at
the age of 17 in 1968. With two tours of Vietnam and the being wouned
he performed the job many others protested about he in the U.S.! J has
always helped out other veterans, just last year he
got a local radio station to put together 3 boxes of Cd's,
T-shirts,and other goodies to send to a group stationed at
Baghdad airport. He also got a group of people to send 28
packages of underwear and t-shirts to a military hospital in
Germany for wounded troops. He is at home all day so this is
what he likes to do to keep busy.

He has been helping both disabled veterans and motorcycle riders for
years now and has done quite a few things for our troops in Iraq,
without asking for one thing for himself. I believe maybe it’s time
others asked for something for him. This project has not been easy for
J we have had people call him a deadbeat, beggar, scam and con artist.
We have had several websites hacked and missed up.

We started the project back in August 2003 and have
raised a little more than $2,000 dollars towards purchasing a used 1988-92 Honda
Goldwing, but with the websites. The biggest problem is getting people
interested in promoting J’s project. We tried to get groups to hold rallies,
events, etc. but no one was interested.

We have also had a problem with getting national coverage (Motorcycle magazines,
newspapers, etc) The sad thing is there are so many scams out there and people
have been burned so much that when a real cause like J’s comes along no body
wants to get involved. J’s has been my friend since 1970 and we served in
Vietnam together.
He has done so much for so many people during his life; I believe it time
someone
does something for him. If anyone deserves a break in his life it J, when his
doctors
told him he could ride a motorcycle again, but it would have to be a trike. It
opened
up his life to something he loves so much.

But with his situation he has nether the credit, money of resources to buy a
trike.
So I started J’s motorcycle project! I setup several website(s) and even setup a
Pay pal account On them in hopes more people would donate. Do you know those
people a while back that setup up that save the bunny website to keep a pet
bunny from being killed by people sending in money made a bundle, I don’t know
if you heard the story about it? J’s project is a real and worth while cause and
with the help of yourself and others with a caring heart maybe together we can
make it happened for him.

I hope this is enough information if you need anymore please feel
free to contact me! Thanks and God Bless, Don Martin! (Project Manager
