Does anybody know of a REALLY good detailer in the New Jersey area?
(also southern upstate NY...around Suffern...is by my office)
My baby is in desperate need of a really good detail job (fabulous
swirl marks in my deep blue paint thanks to that #$&^% dealership),
and I just can't do it right now (besides the 17 straight weekends
of rain, I pinched a nerve in my back so can't bend at all).

Cost is really not too big a concern...I don't want to get ripped
off, but the paint really needs to be finessed (and I am completely
anal retentive about it, so they need to be very, very good at what
they do).

I really appreciate any help...
Thanks!

Chris

It's all in the wash.

With spring in full bloom, it is time to start thinking about washing
and waxing your car.

When washing your vehicle, it is best to use a brand-name car-washing
soap. Do not use dishwashing detergents; they strip off protective
wax.

Avoid washing your car in the hot sun. Soap that dries on the car's
surface causes water-spotting. Always wash from top to bottom, and
remember to rinse often.

Invest in a synthetic chamois or use a clean terry towel to dry. Never
use a sponge to wash your car. It can trap dirt particles that will
scratch the finish. A good-quality sheepskin mitt is much more gentle.

If it has been more than six months since your car was polished and
waxed, it probably needs a professional cleaner wax that is safe for
clear-coat finishes. These products safely remove fine scratches and
swirls, light oxidation, and the daily accumulation of contaminants
that affect your car's finish.

For a flawless "wet-look" shine, use a deep-gloss polish prior to
waxing, such as a high-quality pure polish or a show-car glaze. Always
follow with a good quality wax. If your car's finish is dark, using a
pure polish can make a dramatic difference.

For maximum durability, apply a pure carnauba or polymer wax after
cleaning and polishing. This will help deepen and enhance the gloss
while providing long-lasting protection.

Feeling ambitious? A complete detailing will include cleaning the
windows, vacuuming the interior, and cleaning and protecting the
upholstery.

Don't forget the tires. After a good cleaning, a little spray-on tire
shine will add the finishing touch to any spring car-cleaning.

Got any suggestions to remove water spots from the new finish of my
black TT.
I am responsible for the spots being inpatient to wash the car I
chose the sun instead of nothing at all.
I have tried all the Mequairs and Zymol product without success.
Input is appreciated,
Jim

Many of us on the TT forum are switching to Porterfields, available from
www.myroadster.net - Less dust, better braking, no squeaking, PLUS they are
rotor friendly.

I don't recommend that you use these. Very bad for your brakes as they allow too
much heat build up. Change your brake pads instead, and wax your wheels.

Change to low dust brake pads. I've used Mintex
and EBC pads in the past, but find that Porterfields
are better: less dust and better braking plus no
squeaking/squealing.

You can get them from

You don't say what Audi you have but the other TT owners I talk to all recommend
EBC Green brake pads. Better performance and much less dust.

I try keeping my wheels waxed. They still get
dirty but seem to stay clean longer. Do a test on your
car. Wax one front wheel and not the other. See if the
waxed wheel does stay clean longer. My front wheels on
all my cars have more brake dust then the rear
wheels.

Mark
I read the problem you have with Brake
dust on the wheels
I'm from England originally.
There's a company over there that sell these Rubber discs
that go on the hub before you put the wheel on. I used
them on my Ford XR2 when I lived there, They work a
great. The company is Ripspeed.
Simon

I seem to have a real problem keeping my rims
clean. I get them sparkling then a day later they have
junk all over them. My wifes car doesn't do that. I
have a brand new 2001 Audi S4. Thanks for any help or
suggestions anyone can give me.
