Hello. New member here. I just bought my first audi.. a 1989 100.
Great shape, well kept and all that. Except it does have a leak in
the steering rack. Until I replace the unit, I plan to simply keep
adding oil. The dealer says I MUST use some very pricey stuff, or
else the seals will all melt. Question: is there a generic synthetic
oil that is safe? Or, somebody said they think that Honda steering
oil is compatable. Any thoughts on this?

better to stick with the german recommended stuff at yer VW/Audi Dealer don't know the spec off hand but it's likely the stuff that comes in the square...
