Im in the UK and I have a 2005 Avant which had a similar problem on the window
control switch on the drivers side .I was inside my warranty period but there
was no problem in having that changed.

I would suggest you contact Audi (US) direct and discuss with them, its quite
posible they would assist you to keep the brand name" intact "
