Glycerine is water soluble.  It will eventually absorb more water and lose
ability to keep the doors from sticking again.  Glycerine is a lubricant as long
as it stays wet.  Door gaskets should not stay wet and sloppy to touch.

What you need is water-repelling substance that is also lubricant.  WD-40
repells water.  In fact the WD means water displacement.  Their website says it
is safe for rubber material. But I've found WD40 to be poor lubricant.  It
initially work, but drys up and no longer lubricates. WD40 drys up and continues
to repell water (good thing).

An even better solution is silicone based SPRAY lubricant.  My doors on my OLD
94 civic was stick so I applied liberal amount of generic (translation:cheap)
spray silicone lubricant on the door rubber gaskets.  The door has stayed free
and easy to open.  It also drys up and repells water, but unlike WD40 silicone
sprays drys up and continues to lubricate.

BTW, I spray the door rubber gaskets TWO YEARS ago and it is still working well.

Whether you go with WD40 or silicone lube, wipe off all the glycerine and make
sure the rubber is completely dry first.

I have rubbed glycerine into all the door rubber seals on door and car door

frame side. Glycerine bottle from Shoppers Drug Mart looks like it was

bought in the 1980's. Have to wait until it starts to freeze to find out

effect.

Common on type 44's. To avoid it in the future, get some Silicone spray

(I like the stuff they sell at electrical supply houses, it's very pure),

spray down the rubber gaskets a couple times with the stuff. It gets

absorbed, so you won't stain anything, renews the gaskets as an added

bonus.



Hit up the sunroof, trunk and window gaskets while you're at it, they get

stuck too.



You might want to check the condition of your evaporator door flap

spring, when this spring breaks, it ups the interior humidity

considerably, adding to the condition.



Good time to lube the internals of the door handle and it's mechanisms

too.
