Mine did the same on a short trip--very little power.  It turns out I was running out of gas.  Switch the petcock to reserve--it may be a petcock issue.

are you putting the tube over the float bowl drain screw? how do you unscrew it with the tube on it? thanx!

Neither. You set up the tube, routing it upward. Then unscrew the float bowl drain screw a couple of turns. Fuel will run into the tube, roughly indicating the
