After seeing Larrys good looking 85, I decided to send in a couple of pics of our 77 ranger. We got it this spring as a freebie but it didnt look quite as good as it does now! It was set up on a very hilly lot and had been like that for years. One bed end had came down in a storm and it was a mess. With a little work { and some help from this group}, its now in usable condition- but still a work in progress. Thanks, everybody, we just love our ranger! Mike Dunn and family
The little woman messed up the pictures so after a stern talking to [ yea, right ] she agreed to try again! Thanks,Mike

Thanks, the Apache looks every bit as good inside. Nothing is worn. The former owner bought it for a trip west with his son in law who wanted to go and was dying of cancer. They made the trip before he died and before that it was owned by his pastor. His pastor bought it new and lightly used it then had it parked in his garage for 18 years, unused. I think I got a good deal too and want to take good care of it.

Wow, heck of a story.. it is very cool, that you have the Trailers documentation of owners. Very cool
On my 1985 Royal there is a ring that the shower curtain attaches to. This ring
looks like it would attach to the ceiling or a track so that the curtain would
hang inside the shower base. However I can't find anything to attach it to.
Does anybody know how this works?
Thanks,
Larry
I got it for $2000 and I felt like that was a good price considering it looks almost new and spent 18 years in a garage unused and the rest of the time, little used and some parts of it were never used, like the shower.
Do you think I got it for a good price? I really don't know for sure.

Thanks Jim, I appreciate the information on Apache. I was hoping for something like that and from what I am seeing on the internet people really like their Apachies.
I bought the 85 today and got it set up in my driveway. I am learning about it. I have had several motor homes and a trailer but never had a popup before. I was surprised at how easily it towed. It looks like with practice we should be able to set it up in about 10 minutes. I was also surprised to find that this one doesn't have a battery in it but didn't think about it until I got home. I can live without that but may put one in eventually.
Subject: [apacheowners] Re: Why aren't they made any more?
Hi,
Actually 1985 is a pretty popular year for Apaches. Apache campers are extremely well built, and tend to far outlast other brands from the same years. The failure of the company in 1987 was largely credited to mismanagement. The original owner sold the company, and within a couple of years, changes to product marketing and delivery along with the financial management of the company caused its demise.

Hello,
Can anyone tell me what actual model this is? i.e. Mesa, Yuma, etc. Also need
to find total weight so that I can see if my car can pull it.
Thanks,

If you close all windows and the temperature drops enough over night to form dew the moisture in the air inside the camper has to go some where and it will condense on the canvas and drip. leave a window a little unzipped at each end so the air can circulate the cooler air out side will flow in and the warm moist air in side will go out.
