I've never heard of an AMC scout. Are you thinking of an International Scout?
You could try Kelley Blue Book (www.kbb.com). Or take a look at eBay and see
what they are going for.

Thanx fer the input.........your right about plenty of power, but
theres always room fer more power..............any clue where I might
find parts [body panels, etc....], as I have not had any luck finding
anything.
Hi
You should have little trouble with finding the setup
you want. You are also better off keeping your 290 or
one of its bigger cousins. The Rouge is a light car
and the small v8 should give you plenty of power
without too bad a gasoline bill!
Tom
sorry. i'm still trying to finance and find out what trany i should use.

Only an AMC motor would be a direct fit. Any other make would require
fabricating motor mounts, and other interesting surgery. There's lots of AMC
motors out there. I saw a rebuilt 304 and several rebuilt 360's on eBay this
weekend. Even some 401 cores.
That being said, it would be much cheaper just to buy a four-barrel intake for
your 290. An Edelbrock Performer should should work nicely. You'll need to
find one to fit the earlier model engines, or you'll need to have the bolt
holes slotted on a later one to fit. You see used ones on eBay for about
$100, or you can buy a new one for around $275.

Hi
I have a 1960 Ambassador 327 4bbl with air ps, pb.
It sat for over 35 years in a dealship and has 12,500 miles on it.
I drove it a few hundred miles and reverse went so I rebuilt the
tranyy and rebuilt the starter while I had it apart. Then te master
cylinder because of dried out seals so I did the wheel cylinders and
now the fuel pump.
The only thing I need for the body is the ring on the passenger side
fender guide (someone swiped it at a car show)
Anyway I am looking for the ring and a fuelpump.
Also I can not remember if you block the Vacumn advance while timing
(1961 chiltons I have does not mention it)
Thanks,
Jim
I would like to know which transmission will fit in a 1983 eagle? I
would like to put in an overdrive transmission, but don't which one
will fit. I don't want to do a lot of butchering to make it fit.

What size motor? Manual or automatic transmission? Are you in Nebraska?

You have a great car to start with. I would always upgrade a transmission unless
you plan to drive it very little and show it alot. You can upgrade trans. with
adaptors, improve gas mileage and reliability and since it is tucked under the
car, no one would be the wiser. Do you belong to any other AMC groups?....eddie

It depends what your planning to do with the car. Im
assuming you have an automatic, which would be a
Chrysler 904 - they are strong, solid units and still
very plentiful. Unless you go with a big cam and plan
on drag/street racing it should hold up fine for you.
Just my 2 cents

to help out around the garage long into his golden years. Peiffer Auto
Service continues to be operated by his two sons, Don and David.
He was an usher for St. Peter's Church for many years; was very fond of his
cars and enjoyed a drive now and then. Most of all he enjoyed the Sunday
polka dances at Kewauskum, Adell and Johnsonville. He enjoyed bowling, shot
pool at the Port Washington Senior Center and still played sheepshead twice
a week with his friends. He was a member of the Catholic Order of
Foresters, Loyal Order of Moose #1043 Saukville, Catholic Knights Branch 31
and Knights of Columbus Ozaukee Council 2035.
He is survived by his sons Don (Carol) and David (Diane) Peiffer and

great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, sisters Sally Layman of

brother Al Peiffer, both of Port Washington, nieces, nephews, other

brothers, Roman, Harry, Norbert, Ervin and Milton Peiffer.
Funeral services will be at 1PM Sat. Feb. 17 from the Poole Funeral Home,

Columbus vigil at Noon.

transmission? Color? Pictures? Where are you located? (At least the
state.)

Hey Guys,
Check out this trove of parts cars:
http://users.nexet.net/rhosco/amccars.htm
1973 Gremlin 232, 3-spd, Levis edition
1973 Gremlin 232, AT
1973 Gremlin 232, AT, PS, A/C
1978 Matador 304, AT, roof rotted out
1977 Matador V8, AT
1971 Ambassador 360, AT,
1971 Ambassador (no photo)
Unknown year Matador 304, AT
The contact for these cars is Scott, his phones are on the photo page and
his email is:
"S&R" <rhosco@...>
If any of you need any parts off of these cars, if you're willing to pay
the cost of buying the car and getting it to my place, I'm willing to cut
pieces off for you if I get what's left.
You will need to arrange for pickup of any parts. I will package and ship
but as I don't run a shipping facility, it's an extreme hassle for me and I
will need to charge for my time.
I see good body panels, good doors, glass, and probably reams of mechanical
parts.
They are not long for this earth, so if you want anything from them,
contact the fellow at the phone number on the main page and make your
arrangements.
