| Look for 88 & 89 S-10 or Postal Truck engines. Plenty in bone yards. They feature reinforced main webbing much stronger than the standard blocks for more torque power. The 89 "R" head has great flow and the ports can be ported for increased flow. Avoid the " U " head as these are for fwd cars ONLY. Many aftermarket cams are availeble and an Iron Duke pushing 130 - 140 hp /160 ft-lb is easily optained. This is very close to a Honda Accord F22A engine. Plenty of pickup and reliability. These engines weree designed as " commuter" and not hi -perf. The over bore is minimal since this is a thin wall cylinder similar to the old Chevy 400 siamease bored small block. Again, not performance but as a commuter back then for big cars and trucks.
