There are a couple of tricks to go for. If your going pistons don't hesitate to go a bit higher, say 9.5 as the timing is just about retarded. Other than the rods and oiling you got to focus on breathing... header, better cam working low to mid range and roller rockers will free around 115 Hp.

 Look for 88 & 89 S-10 or Postal Truck engines. Plenty in bone yards. They feature reinforced main webbing much stronger than the standard blocks for more...
