VW enthusiasts - Keep and eye out for my stolen silver '67 VW

On Sunday evening 11/19/06 at 6:19PM my 1967 Type 1 VW was stolen
from the parking lot of a strip-mall in Van Nuys, CA. The parking
lot is across from the Sepulveda Basin on the north side of Ventura
Blvd next to the Van Nuys Golf Course (between Woodley and
Havenhurst). The theft was captured by the several surveillance
cameras overlooking the parking lot. This morning I will be picking-
up and delivering the enhanced version of the surveillance tape, to
the Van Nuys office of the LAPD.

My car was stolen by two young men, late teens or early twenties.
The men appear to be caucasion (must wait for the enhanced tape to
know for sure). The thieves pulled directly into the parking lot
from Victory Blvd. and parked a mid 1990's-silver Honda next to my
VW - the rear license plate of the Honda is visible in the
surveillance tape.

It took the young men about twelve minutes to get the engine
compartment open, jump the ignition switch and break into the car
then push start it. at about three minutes on the tape a witness
(one of the mall's shop owners) saw them messing with the car as she
walked through the parking lot. One of the young men drove my VW
west on Victory Blvd. My car's license plate is 5BTF628 The VIN # is
117603161. It's Porsche silver oxidizing to gray, with a bent
running board and a tweaked rear bumper. I'll post photos here. If
you know of the whereabouts of my silver '67 Bug please reply.

Hey buggers....if you are going by Little Rock around the 29th there
is a VW show and swap meet at Burns Park, just off Interstate 40. The
area VW club is sponsoring it, so expect a whole lot of VW's.

My old friend Mike Bushnok, master engine and carb builder is planning
on making it with a trailer load of parts, engines, etc. If you need
some good german parts give him a call at 870-534-7542 weekdays from
10 am to 2 pm, or at 870-536-9770. He will treat you right!

I just left an old friends place and he has many new parts from
Germany and used parts too. He is 84 and came to America from Germany
many years ago. He worked on VW's for a living, getting certified on
engine and carb rebuilding. I was amazed at all of the engine cases
that he has on his shelf. He has it all, from cranks to throw out
bearings...and he will give you good advise. The only drawback is that
he doesn't do the internet. If you need a good part for an air cooled
VW will you please give Mike Bushnok a call at 870-534-7542 from 10 am
to 2 pm weekdays, and 870-536-9770 anyother time. He has his shop up
for sale and needs to clean out the shop. He is a good man and he will
treat you right.

Best regards

p.s. he also has a bug, a Karman Ghia and a few buses for sale.

about everything has been replaced at one time or another, I can see
every owners name, when and who they sold it to, and each of the 4
previous owners kept detailed records of anything and everything done
to this vehicle! Inside is immaculate, headliner has no rips or tears,
looks like it was completely redone a few years back, but I cant find
any receipt for that. Original working AM radio. The car drives better
than and of the Bugs & Ghias I ever had, everythings tight and smooth.

Already replaced the front belts w/ 3-point, will install the rest
sets in the next few weeks. Still need to move the gas filter out of
the engine compartment thought.

Hey gang,
My dad's yellow '77 Vanagon caught fire! Something happened and the
motor caught fire on Reseda blvd right in front of E&C Auto. According
to my dad, the fire did not spread past the motor. As a result, the
car is up for sale. The motor is a 2.0 liter with fuel injection,it
has a super strong bus tranny and disc brakes up front. If you are
interested give my father a call. The car should be dirt cheap.
Call Frank @ 818-993-7410

Take care guys
Matt
