Evening all.
We have been busy finalising details for this event and wanted to give you all a bit more info.
As this is our first time at running such an event, and as Forrestburn is a much more 'linear' venue than a carpark or airfield, we have had to be a little creative to try and create a fun but competitive event and keep things as smooth running as possible. We hope that the following makes sense.
Entry fee for this event will be £15.
Gates to Forrestburn will be open from 6.30pm at the latest.
If you feel like helping out with setting things up, you are more than welcome to be at the track for 4.30pm onwards. (Yes really).
Timed runs will start no later than 7.15pm. If you intend running on the track, you must be signed on and ready to go for this time.
There will be three 'tests'
Test one will start from just after the startline for the hillclimb and will end just after the hairpin. The longest straight will be 50m.
Anything which would be over 50m will be punctuated by a chicane or gentle slalom. After completing the first test, drivers should proceed to the paddock before joining the queue for their second and third runs.
The second test will run from just before the hairpin to a stop line which will be just before the first pit entrance. As before, there will be no straight longer than 50 metres.
The second test will be run after all competing drivers have completed the first test.
The third test will be a composite of both of the above and will run from just after the hillclimb startline to just before the first pit entrance.
The third test will be run after a short break.
All tests will finish with a stopline which all competing drivers must stop astride.
For the purposes of timing, all tests will commence with a countdown of 3-2-1- and finally, and rather predictably, Go !
The test finishes when the vehicle comes to a complete stop astride the finish line.
Number of runs.
This will be decided to a certain extent by number of entrants.
However, it is our intention to run 3 competitive runs of each section.
Best time for each test counts towards your overall score for the event.
Or, to put it another way
Final positions will be decided by the overall lowest time of the night. i.e. your three best times of the evening are added together.
Driver cards.
All drivers should show their driver card to the startline marshall before commencing the test. This enables the finish line marshall to accurately record times and will assist in smooth running of the event.
And really, that's about it. There will be no prizes, as such, but bragging rights will be priceless.
Look forward to seeing you all on Thursday.
Thanks
John F
