Just a little pre-event info.
This upcoming evening on May the 17th will be run as an Autosolo event.
A what ?
An 'Autosolo'.
This format has its roots in autotesting, but don't panic.
There is no reversing. It is all forward motion. It is also freer flowing than an autotest and is often described as being half roads between autotesting and sprinting.
At Forrestburn, the event will be run entirely on the hillclimb track with various obstacles to be negotiated.

These will amount to chicanes, gates and slaloms. Or to use the collective term as described by Mr J Millar, "Wiggly Woggly Bits".
Don't think this means that it will be stop start - it won't. Once you leave the start line you will not need to stop until you reach the finish line and keeping your car flowing along will be essential for a good result. So, there will be no need for spin turns, handbrake turns or any such fancy techniques.
Car sharing is definitely allowed. :-)

Now the interesting bit.
Under the MSA permit, this is a timed event. That means that we are allowed to time runs to within 1/10 of a second.
So, think of it as a fun night as you know it with an added bit of interest ; still using the hillclimb track and with opportunities to get a bit of speed on between the twiddly bits.
And err that's about it.
This is run as a clubsport event under MSA regs, so you don't need a competition licence or a crash helmet or any other protective equipment. Just show your club membership card and you're away.
Just come along, enjoy yourself and maybe even win ! Who knows, if this is a success, it may bring a new competitive element to the club whilst remaining at clubsport level, just like the PCTs.
I may even have a go myself...

Any questions, just ask.
That is all.
See you there.
