Jeff:
I think I have a switch if it is the same as 1966 sportwagon. Can't imagine they
would be different.
Send me a picture of yours.

Subject: [VC&SW] Power Seat Switch and Tracks
Hi all --
I'm trying to fix the 4 way power bench in my '67 VC. It looks like the switch
is broken, and both
tracks have something wrong with the up/down gear drive (front/back works OK).
The tracks do not appear to be easily serviced as everything is riveted. Does
anyone know of
someonw who fixes the tracks, or know of any tracks and a switch available for
sale?
Thanks in advance.

I' m adding factory power windows in my vista cruiser. I need to know the hole
sizes and the placement. I know there are dimples in the doors and the pillars.
My issue is that the "grommet" sizes are not the same on each end. As near as I
can tell The fronts measure 2 +3/8" and 2".
The rears appear to be 1+3/8" and 1+5/8".
Which size goes where? I of each of the conduits was still taped into the
wiring harness and it appears that the larger rear grommet went to the rear door
but the larger front grommet went to the "A" pillar.
My concern is that drilling the large 2 +3/8" hole centered on the dimple
places it right at the edge.
A friend installed a set in a cutlass wagon and according to him the largest
sizes go to the doors, period. This makes mor sense to me but from looking at
the harness it does not appear to be the case.
Does anyone have the facts as far as placement and proper hole sizes ?
thanks, Al
I am a painter by trade. I paint city buse for our transit authority.I get debate from my answer to that question all the time.
I suggest bitting the bullet and buying two gallons of the color you choose if you are doing an overall repaint. The reason is the door jams and under hood, tailgate areas allways use more paint than you expect. When you get the two gallons I always combine the two together by getting a two gallon mixing pail or a empty gallon can from your paint supplyer so that you know they are a match. Not slightly off.
The color you chose will also determine how much material you use.Metallic gold as opposed to flat black for example.
I know the inital cost of materials can overwelm most people but it is better to have extra color than to run short and hope to receive the exact same variance of your color.
Because your asking this question that means you don't paint for a profession. Please remember to use proper safety gear because no paint material is safe. It all can be hazardous to use. The hardeners you need to use for a quality coating can seriously harm you. Gloves (nitrate) for mixing and handeling paint. A new REAL resparator with apropriate filters, they are different for different materials.
Wow,long answer for a simple question.Two Gallons.

I'm doing a complete restoration on a 68 vista cruiser and need to order paint. For those of you who have painted GM wagons, How many gallons has it taken you or do you estimate it would take. I'm guessing the slightly longer VC with the glass roof is close in area to a flattop wagon. Al

Thanks for that input. I was hopping
they had the metal trim pieces. I am trying to get them to make me a set of 66
GS door panels for my wagon. Needless to say they will be shorter but I liked
the look of the later panels better than the 65, and since I am building my own
version of a 1965 GS wagon, I guess I have license to do as I like.

Dear Mike,
The door panels made by SMS are doing great. They had me
ship the originals to them for use as a pattern and then decided they had
to make a die to reproduce the correct pattern impression in the vinyl. They
also needed the old door panels to re-use the chrome trim and emblems. They are
not cheap but I don't know of a better source for a correct and professional
restoration. (I Sent them $600 November of 2004 and another $375 February 2005
when they were supposed to be finished. That was for four door panels and vinyl
material for the cargo mat area.)

Yes!..very cool slide show of your trip!..you should be a documentarian...very good!....and the car you weren't sure of but thought was an old Ford with the Grand National motor was a Willy's coupe, (I beleive the year is 1941)
This is to announce I finally built my personal web site and uploaded it to the web. Go to GMC Guy.com and check it out. The site features my vehicles, my dogs, restoration slide shows, vacation slide shows and more. It will be a continuing work in progress but it's about time I got it done after parking my domain for over eight years. The first two folks I plug on the site are The National 6066 GMC Truck Club and Las Vegas Basset Rescue. There will be more to come.
I found putting the site together a little intoxicating once I got started. Integrating the links to my existing slide shows at Kodak and designing it so I'd be happy with the organization and appearance has taken some work but it was fun. Now I need to get some rest. Have a great weekend and let me know if you find any errors or have suggestions for improvement?
Sincerely,
Arthur Throckmorton Las Vegas, NV (702) 460-9135 arthurt@cox.net
How are the door panels holing up? I am
considering SMS for my application.

Good morning all:
Would anyone be interested in substituting the 2009 Oldsmobile
Nationals in Seven Springs, PA (near Pittsburgh) for Hell Weekend?
It's being held from July 15 - 19, 2009.
http://www.alleghenyrockets.org/nationals.htmhttp://oldsclub.org/NationalMeets/OCA_Nats2009/nats09_info.htmhttp://www.7springs.com/
I'm looking at the Lost Mountain Campground, which is $25 for
primitive camping or $26 for water/electric. Click on all of the
links at the top of the page to get rates, accommodations and local
attractions. I just hope it's not full by the time we get there!
http://www.lostmountaincampground.com/Home_Page.php
We also won't be far from the Flight 93 9/11 memorial and Frank Lloyd
Wright's "Fallingwater".

To me:"needs paint and interior" is very vague and tells me nothing...does it need a complete interior because it is completely missing because someone took it our and there is nothing there??..or is there just a few rips that a fussy person would find it to be a problem and deside to redo it completely....quite the wide specrum of possible problems there depending on a persons point of view....
DEMOLITION DERBY!!!?!?!?!....You want me to beat you now or later!?!?!??!...how can you even THINK of advertising a restorable car like that as a derby car..Shame on you!!!...where is the car? what state?..and how bad is the interior?

No, I don't have a spare set - just the deteriorating ones that are on my '69.
Perhaps someone on the Vista group has a pair, or are you close enough to Michigan to attend the Homecoming car show in Lansing the day before Father's Day? They have over 100 vendors that have almost any Oldsmobile part (as the seat belt covers are the same as Buick) that you would want.

yes Bill I think they are the same. do you have a pair-Bill S.
I can't personally help, but if you put your needs on the main group (Vista Cruiser), it will reach more folks. I wonder if Vista covers would be the same?

Parting out '65 Vista, front clip is gone already, vista glass is no
good, but have rust free tail gate & doors, rear bumper, pit free pot
metal, tail lights, 2 side window molding pieces, rear window
deflector, other misc parts. Goes to crusher this winter.
Did the '69 Sport Wagon have the Dual-Action tailgate as standard equipment?
On the '69 Vista Cruiser, the one-way tailgate was standard on the 2-seat models (my first '69 Vista and Andrew's "BadAss MadMax Vista Cruiser" were so equipped), but the Dual-Action tailgate was optional on 2-seat cars (my third '69 Vista is so equipped) and standard on 3-seat cars.

Yes, to clear up the rear bumper confusion the 69 is not the same as
the 68 The 69 sportwagon had a two way tailgate - the 68 didn't the 69
bumper has a step notch on the one side.So the 68 rear bumper is a one
year only deal and hard to find. Thanks for all the replies Bill (960) S.
