mufflers soon and figured that I may as well re-jet the carbs to compensate for
the lack of back pressure while I have the carbs off. I noticed that there seems
to be a fairly large baffle under the bike that is separate from whatever may be
in the pipes. So, I am thinking that removing the baffles from the pipes may not
actually affect the back pressure as much as I thought. If, in fact that is a
baffle of some kind, then without messing with that too I will not have straight
pipes. So, my question is, does anyone know how I can determine if I actually
need to change the jets on the carbs and, if so, what jet do I use? I'd like to
install whatever jet will be best for the system without the exhaust pipe
baffles. I appreciate any help I can get.

Hello,I have an 84' xv1000 with same exhaust,There are no baffles that you
can take out.Already tried this without understanding the exhaust,You will be
better off getting new more open exhaust put on your bike.I even tried cutting
the large box off exhaust and foung how it was made and the pipeing was,it would
be impossible.I damaged mine thinking the mufflers had baffles when they
actually dont, just a little mesh and curved pipeing....hope this
helps...........Doug
