Right Coast Cars - Right Coast Report Newsletter
SYRACUSE NATS
DISPLAY AT SEMA...SUCCESS!!
The 2009 SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) in Las Vegas, Nevada is in the books! This year the entire Right Coast staff made the trip to the “left” coast to meet all of the companies and people who support the DuPont Hot Hues Syracuse Nationals by participating as vendors and/or sponsors.
For the first time ever, Right Coast had a display at the largest automotive industry show on the planet.
For the second year OPTIMA Batteries held their Ultimate Street Car Shootout at a private race track 1 hour outside Vegas. Only fifty cars get to participate in this challenge to find the ultimate street car.
This year we are very excited to announce our 1927 Track-t roadster given away at the 2009 Syracuse Nationals was one of only 6 cars hand picked at SEMA to participate in this prestigious event. Dave Tucci of Tucci Hot Rods in Marcy, NY who designed and built the car got behind the wheel at the exclusive Spring Mountain track.
Not only did Dave climb behind the wheel, he got in front of SPEED Channel’s cameras while they interviewed him before the competition to get his thoughts on the car and how it would perform against some of the most insane street cars in the county.
Look for Dave and the Track-T on the OPTIMA Battery Ultimate Street Car Shootout to air on SPEED, January 31st.
At our SEMA press conference we unveiled what will soon become one of the most prestigious awards in the hotrod and custom car community. The Winfield Award will be given out annually at the DuPont Hot Hues Syracuse Nationals by master car customizer Gene Winfield.
After builders from around the country submit their entries, Gene will select only six to be feature vehicles at the 2010 show. Once at the show, Gene will personally judge each vehicle to determine the winner of the inaugural Winfield Award trophy and $5,000 cash.
Builders, to submit your vehicle for consideration contact Bob O’Connor at 800-753-3978 or bob@.... All entries must be received by April 1, 2009.
“East Coast” Artie Schilling was also in our SEMA booth pinstiping up a storm all week, while promoting Artie’s Party Charity Panel Jam and Auction. Thousands of people stopped by to chat with Artie while he worked his magic. He was pinstiping phones, cameras, and amazing aluminum panels all week long. Some lucky SEMA goers even won some of his unique automotive artwork!
Make sure to visit Arties Party at the 2010 DuPont Hot Hues Syracuse Nationals in the Horticulture building and bid on some of the finest automotive artwork in the world for local children’s charity.

I’ve used the 15w40 Rotella, also. Don’t think you could go
wrong there. I’ve settled on the Tractor Supply 15w40 house brand diesel oil,
because it’s not quite as dear as the Rotella.
They have the Rotella, too, which is what I would use if I had just
(dreaming now) spent big bucks on a new engine.
My 1600 takes 2 ½ quarts, plus a little more to top off after
running it & letting the oil drain back.

If the oil is very dirty: warm it up for 20-30 minutes, then let it drain for at least 4 hours, then add your fresh oil.
Depending on your driving habits, the manuals recommend different grades for different temperatures Summer, Fall, and Winter. Most users will uae one grade for the Summer-Fall, Straight 30, 10-40, 20-50, or 10-30 Synthetic.

Hey bill. I use 20 w 50 because it is thicker and my bug is only driven in the sunny warm days. If you are running it now in the colder weather you can go 10w30 as it is thinner and turns over easier. I think most bugs take 4 liters. That is just a guess but not sure why that # is in my head. Go to the samba and search how much oil in my baha and there will be a lot of post on that.

more of a Driving rally then a parade or caravan. the only constant is each

are encouraged to set their own pace, and see as much along the way as

Also member Bill Waelder works at the Everson Museum (http://www.everson.org/home.php )
and wants to see if there’s any interest in the VW club to come and view
the current rare and unique art exhibit (Turner to Cezanne). This should be
just the thing for that early winter Blahhs..
The Everson
is pleased to present Turner to Czanne:
Masterpieces from the Davies Collection, National Museum Wales this fall. In preparation for this unique exhibition, the museum
is closing the second-floor galleries for renovations from May 15—October
3, 2009.
Remarkable
for its breadth and the quality of its works, the Davies collection at National
Museum Wales is an extraordinary group of nineteenth- and early
twentieth-century paintings collected largely between 1908 and 1923 by sisters
Margaret and Gwendoline Davies. By 1914 the Davies sisters had assembled one of
the finest collections of European modern art in Britain, including works by the
modern masters Paul Czanne, Camille Corot, Honor Daumier, Edouard Manet,
Jean-Franois Millet, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Joseph M.W. Turner,
Vincent van Gogh, and James Abbot McNeill Whistler among others.
