Check Group 014 in [09], if remote is working.

This should be the procedure:

Adaptation:
If electric windows - close them.
Key in driver door key lock.
Turn to "Open" 3 times 0.5 sec. each - max. total time 5 sec.
Remove key from door lock - Press and hold remote "Lock" button.
At the same time press 3 times on "Open" remote button - Release "Lock" button.
LED in remote must flash 5 times, just as LED in the door.
Total time for procedure is 15 sec.
You can adapt up to 3 remote keys.

Synchronizing:
Press 2 times 1 sec. on "Open" button.

It is a model 2005

Hi is anyone able to assist on the below query? Have I not given enough info?

I did search this forum and the Ross tech wiki but was not able to find
procedure that worked. On the Internet I found 2 other possible methods: 1)
using 2 keys with one left in ignition and other to close driver door manualy;
and 2) manuallly unlocking the drivers door three time uickly to put car in
learning mode. Neither process worked hence the request for help here.

Much appreciated if someone could help.
Thanks in advance

Hi group, my friend has just purchased a 2004 vw sharan, and he is havin a
problem with the remote fob. It does not work and neither do an of the spares.
Checked batteries and replaced but still no joy. Is there a procedure required
to relearn the remote fobs? I would really appreciate if someone can assist me.
Full scan below.

Ps: we have cleared all the faults below and the only one that seems to reappear
is the temp coolant sensor one.

Thanks

Hi there balwin,
Thank you for your reply. We are able to start the car but have not been able to
use the remote to open and disarm alarm. When we open the door manually the
alarm is set off and goes off once we start up the car.

I will try and get access to the car at the weekend and try what you suggest and
update the forum with progress, however if the above narrows down the possible
issue please let me know.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Hi, first of all i will need to know if the car could start before buying it.

First thing is it looks like the key is not recognised by immobilizer and on
this case the transponder needs to recoded or programmed on the immobilizer with
VAG-COM where you will need a login code but identifyn an immobilizer type
first. Note this is for Immob 3. link
http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/Immo3-key-matching.html

Second thing is if you just need to open the door with the remote you need to
code the key on the CCM unit. This can be done with VAG-COM cable and does not
need any login code. link

Hi all, thanks for your help. We managed to get the remotes to work using the
method suggested by Neils. thanks again for your help.
The only modification we did to the procedure was to start by having the door
unlocked to start with!

Hi,

I've been using a 2.something beta version with the opto connector on an ancient
W95 laptop for my one car, a '99 Golf TDI.

The floppy drive quit long ago and I have no way to communicate with it so I'm
wanting a newer laptop and at the same time maybe a later version of VAG-COM.

The laptop I'm looking at has no serial port so it looks like I'll need to pay
for upgrading to a KEY-COM interface.

Does the KEY-COM work with a USB port?

What is the latest version I can upgrade to without having to pay for the
upgrade? I am a one car user so cost is a factor.

If I've overlooked a better way I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks,
Dan

If your new laptop doesn't have a serial port you can buy a ysb to serial

Thanks for replying. I was under the belief that the VAG-COM doesn't work
with the converters.

With the speed in which technology moves, maybe my information is old.

Have you used the VAG-COM with a USB to serial adapter?

Dan,

The KEY-COM is a serial port interface - what you are looking for
instead would be the KEY-USB. We also do NOT recommend to use
USB<>RS232/COM/SERIAL adapters!

http://ross-tech.com/vag-com/faq_1.html#1.5

An overview of our current interface hardware is available here:

http://ross-tech.com/vag-com/interfaces.html

Based on the information provided by you so far we were not able to find
you in our customer database it is unclear what hardware and software
version you were running, therefor there is no straight forward answer
to your question.

Thanks Sebastain,

I thought I had read about not using the adaptors.

I just called Ross-Tech and talked to someone. Maybe you?

Anyway, I think I'll just send in the old OPTO interface for credit and pay the
$99 for the KEY-USB as it includes the activation for the latest software which
I was thinking was going to cost me more.

I originally bought the VAG-COM 11/14/2000, maybe your records don't go back
that far. A week or so later, I bought the Bently CD, I have records of all the
emails etc. that occurred.

Thanks to all for the help,

Dan

Hi all

car wont start when hot if left for 2mins it starts after a few turns or
not at all if left any longer
no fault codes. scoped ignition primary, cks and injector when cranking engine
it looses signal to both ign primary (both coils) and injector (no1) the crank
shaft sensors seems slow to react when turnng over you get about 3.8v, is that
enough to give a postitive signal to the ecu. When the engines running its
between 8 and 10 volts... are there any common problems with this engine that
might point me in the right direction

I would inspect the battery, battery connections and the grounding connection at
the engine.
A weak battery might cause problems along with a starter that demands too much
power along with a weak battery.
How fast does the engine crank/turn over?

Not too familiar with the APT engines though but the ignition modules on the
1.8T AEB engines are a weak link.

Hi group,

This maybe a bit off topic, please do forgive and correct me if it is.....

Have been using vag-com on bentleys for a while and most things work as they do
on vag cars. Am however trying to do an adaptation on the level control system,
but this requires a security code to let you do this, does any one know what
code these 2006 flying spurs use as it reject the vw code.

Thanks in advance guys

Ps. We don't have a bentley dealer in this part if africa, or else it would have
been sort out by a dealer.

Please contact me directly via email, make sure to include an Auto-Scan
from the vehicle in question and elaborate what sort of adaptation you
are trying to perform (do I assume correctly that you want to lower the
car?).

Hi, downloaded 908 and Beta 10.3 today and neither recognizes any serial
ports on my desktop running XP.
Even downloaded some (supposedly) driver for serial port, if there's such a
thing. Yesterday scanned a car with 8xx version on
I have HEX+CAN interface HC402093 Rev. A, had it for 4-5 years, bought from
main store in PA..
Please, help.
Thanks,

Hi Tihol:

I do have too a HEX-CAN serial interface running with the 908 version. I did
installed the 908.2 and then the beta 10.3 and both works without problem.

I think your problem is that you are working on a desktop with your interface
not been connected to the obd2 port. it should be powered up in order to be
recognized as a serial port at the VCDS program.

Cheers!

Jaime

Thanks, Jaime.
The interface was connected to the OBD-2 port and the light on it was
green. My desktop got a new hard drive a few months ago and windows XP was
re-installed. I hadn't used the serial port since the repair but don't
imagine it would need some special enabling. Am I correct?

Used the same interface the day before to successfully scan another car with
a different desktop that won't turn on now. That's why the change in
computers.

Have you checked that the serial port is correctly enabled in BIOS?

I've got a 2002 Jetta VR6 with 108k miles on it giving me:
16724 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40): Malfunction
         P03430 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

I've replace the camshaft position sensor but the fault returned. Other than
the fault it runs fine.

I've been told the timing chains and/or tensioner are likely next steps.
Any opinions on this?
Thanks,
Richard

Richard the timing chain, tensioner and guides are due because of the mileage. I
believe you have an AFP motor which means the trans has to be removed to do the
chain and guides. That's a big job to say the least. What is common on an AFP
motor are the chain guides going bad not so much the chain. You can service the
top guide without trans removal but to do the bottom guide or chain the trans
must be removed. The code you got could be bad wiring another common problem or
a bad cam shaft sensor. I'd try another OEM sensor and run temporary jumper
wires from sensor to ECM before going in for the chain. Also completely check
all a timing marks. On all other belt driven V.W. motors this is the exact code
you get if the belt is old and stretched or you installed a belt off a little
bit. This is a very tight motor and the chains are not known to slip as far as I
know. But I do believe if they slip you'd know because you'd have damage. Good
Luck

 Hi!

I think you just need to check the timing" marks" I have experienced this
problem before, iether turn the mark by one step back or one step forword on the
camshaft.

      Best regards.

Hi Everyone
I recently fitted a used ECU to a 1998 1.9TDi Sharan
As I understand it this vehicle is fitted with immo 2
no chassis no stored in extra field of immobiliser
anyway i fitted the ECU went to address 01 cleared fault codes then adaptation
channel 00 read & save I then went to address 25 immobiliser
and did the same procedure however when i attempted to read adp 00 nothing
happened i did not get the option to save. i checked battery voltage slightly
low connected booster and retried still no option to save adp 00 checked meas
blks everything in order. the cars starts & runs with original ecu but it has
dtc 65535 internal module memory error
is there a different procedure for ecu matching on this vehicle or is possible
that the immobiliser is faulty even though MVB check out ok and starts with
original ecu
thanks

This is a bit of an odd story from the boonies (literally):

The car apparently has been in an accident, repaired (not terribly well but,
I'm told, it ran post repair), then was sitting for a few months and was
last started a month and a half ago. I'm told it was given a boost and both
vehicles ran together connected for a short time (DK how long) - possible
Voltage spike.

Most important - MIL and glow plugs light are NOT on, when ign. switch is
on. I thought dead or not powered computer. Extensive check found no
broken or shorted wires and ample signs of rodents taking residence under
the hood. The ECU was well sealed with silicone and no visual damage seen
inside.

Did the scan anyway and got (my transcript - on the side of the road,
desktop on the back of my car, powered from a box on a power poll, no
printer, dry snow blizzard, desktop unhappy now):

01-Engine
Too many communication errors

ABS - Labels 1J0 907-37x-ABS.lbl
PN 1J0 907 379P
Component 20 IE CAN 0001
Coding: 03504
Shop # WSC 00066

18256 - Please check DTC Memory of Engine
Controller
P1848 - 35-00

Would anyone guess a dead or non-powered computer?
The relay 109 checked OK. Battery good and starter turns over. Instrument
cluster's LCD a little flaky, mostly working.

Thanks for any ideas.

Tihol

Check for voltage at the shut off solenoid on the pump. When my relay 109
went bad on my ALH engine A4 jetta back in 2000 that's how the dealer tech
found the problem and started trouble shooting backwards from there.

While setting up the VCDS to acquire some operational data, I selected Engine
Group 054, which includes "Throttle Position (0-100%)" and "Throttle Angle
(0-100%)."

Can anyone out there explain the difference in interpretation between these?
I'm guessing that one represents the pedal position and the other represents the
position of the baffle in the throttle body, but this is just a guess....
