I'll admit ignorance on the DSG, but my experience has been that rattles like this are frequently caused by flex plate bolts coming loose, or flywheel bolts

are these gearboxes known to rattle on startup, the car is due a timing belt, but I dont feel this is a timing issue, the car idles, runs, and drives

only 66,000 on the car and I checked all the teeth on the ring gear. there all fine. I will do a full scan and post it up ________________________________

As indicated by Gary depending on the exact model some adjustment may be possible but you can only choose from existing settings and not put in your own
