RE: [Toyota_Matrix] RE: Re: Five Foot Driver and 2009 Matrix Blind Spots

I just use the braille method!  If the surface you are coming close to isn't rough and you aren't on a hill (which makes control hard), just go slowly until you touch!  If the surfaces aren't sliding past each other there is no harm.  Usually you realize that you have about a foot more space than you probably thought you did!

I do the same.

For the front, when I think I'm too close to hitting the front against
something, I look out the driver window to the edge of the bumper and
make a reestimate from there.

I had never thought about this, but at 5'10" I don't see the hood of my 2004 XR either - I just see the little nibs where the washer fluid comes out, and if I...

I'm 6'1" and can't see the end of the hood either. That does not bother me at all. The huge blind spots at all four corners especially at the rear are...

I put small "fish eye" mirrors in the corners of both outside mirrors. It takes time to get used to but they do eliminate the blind spots. I also remove the...

I've never noticed blind spots in my husband's Matrix, but then again we always set our side mirrors as described in these links. Very little blind spot even...

I agree, Linda - I have no blind spots on my Matrix, but that's because I set the mirrors like you do, so the rear and side mirror views just barely overlap,...
