I would suggest new rings until you find a new piston - it's a very easy job. I use Hastings piston rings, as you can measure up your bore and the dimensions...

Thanks James. I cleaned off the whole thing, polished up the commutator and cleaned its grooves out. This doubled the measured output. From 1/2 V to 1V! Hmm....

There are many different types of chain case, with screw holes. Etc, that don't line up if you have mix and match inner and outer. Half cases appear on eBay...
