Besides spectacular riding the hiking is incredible at the Gold lake basin especially the fire lookout is the most incredible you'll ever see. Some people will not go up the long stairs due to the exposure. Wonder our dog freaked going up and he's a climber. Theres a gate up the lookout road but I've been known to get around it, on bike, on a quiet day, not the 4th! The fireworks at Graeagle at the mill pond will be on July 3rd this year. Its a ride up Gold lake road. Our golfing friends love the display there. Downieville has a huge 4th event too, if you have a dualsport you could make a great loop downhilling then coming right into town. Greetings from Roy |
