Have you seen the height of an Adventurewagon? That's the main reason they are
less popular. They look interesting, but funny at the same time. It seems crazy
to take the slowest van in the world and then add at least another 10 suare feet
of front end wind resistance. Wind is definitely an objective force. I can
barely get my non westy syncro into a multi level parking lot. I have knocked my
racks off trying. Happy it wasn't an AW sice it would have removed part of the
top.
Altough, newer AW's have very nice teak detailed interiors & have the feel of a
high end sailboat inside. That & the full time storage areas that you can't have
with a pop top. I just think the pop top looks way better & is better for
offroading (tree clearance, etc.). If you like AW's, that makes it cheaper for
you to pick one up too. I just saw one in Oregon for $8000 or $10,000, can't
remember now.
You might want to bring this up on one of the syncro discussion groups. This one
only has a few people on it & gets about one posting every other month. You
could really get a debate going on the other lists:

Good luck

Subject: Westy's over Adventurewagens
I am curious as to why westy's seem to be in greater demand (more
money) then Adventurewagen's. Are theire objective forces at work
here or is it just emotion.....
