Tire Rack 15" Mercedes wheels, more info & ?s   Message List

Jason and the Syncronauts,

The search for the elusive load capacity of the TireRack 15" Mercedes
steel wheel continues. TireRack cannot tell you the load capacity of
the wheel but they say it doesn't have sufficient load capacity.

I have the wheels sitting at my house, and one of them is accompanying
me in the quest for load capacity, i.e., is open and sitting beside my
chair.

Markings on the wheel:
Made in Italy - came in boxes with German and English writing.
CMR - on there several times, appears to be a manufacturers logo.

6 1/2Jx15HZ

C1-0-497

13-00 KMA44551

ET37 - which I understand is the correct offset for Syncro, but not 2WD

R1-1C60 (except that the "C" if backwards opening to the left)

1000 - stamped on the back - where one list member said load ratings on
non OEM wheels would appear. It is logical to believe that this is
kilograms, not pounds, given the country of origin of the wheel, the
country of origin of the Mercedes, and the fact that 1000 lbs would be
very light. Those old Mercedes for which this wheel is manufactured
were not light cars.

But other Syncronauts may have clues for Jason and his 15" groupies as
they search in wonder for the elusive load capacity.

Anybody know what any of these other letters and numbers mean? A quick
look at NTHA revealed nothing about rims, only info about tire ratings.

Sam, The only good way to find out is put them on and go out and pound them. In all my years of auto rebuilding, I have never seen a catastrophic wheel...

By the way I found the 6 1/2 J had the incorrect offset for my Syncro (I've lost track of whether you're talking about 4WD or 2WD). The rear tyres rubbed ...
