Re: STELLA! Re: engine rev's to max rpm's

Do you know if I can replace that gasket without having to take the carb apart?

There's a tutorial on rebuilding carbs at:
http://tinyurl.com/l5nzp5
or
http://www.vespamaintenance.com/fuel/carbrebuild/index.html

Does anyone know how many hours this rebuild would take a first timer?  Heck, should I even attempt to fix it myself?
It looks fairly simple on that how-to page....

Okay, here's one.... My scooter kept stalling out until I cleaned the idle jet. After that, it seemed to run just fine. Then last night as I was approaching...

Then what happened? Often, fuel starvation can cause a rise in RPM at idle, but.. Assuming the ignition actually shut off, I had an experience with a Yamaha...

I put it in gear and popped the clutch in order to kill the engine. This happened late last night and I haven't looked at it yet this morning. I'm scared....

The two bolts that secure the carb were pretty snug. I gave each of them another 1/4 turn for good measure. I took a test drive around the neighborhood. It...

It's also possible that you have over tightened your carb bolts. This is one of the most common sources of air leaks, namely, when you over tighten the carb...

The problem started without me ever touching the carb bolts. I reckon i could have overtightened them AFTER the fact (i doubt it), but that wouldn't explain...

Stuff simply shakes loose over time. Or gaskets begin to lose their strength. Remember, these two-strokes vibrate a ton. To: StellaScooter@yahoogroups.com ...

I saw this happen to a Stella 2 summers ago after a period of slow speed riding and down hill engine braking. Nobody could provide an explanation as to why it...

This exact thing happened to my 03 stella a few months ago. It was an air leak. Same high rev (about to explode), and it kept going after removing the key. I...
