Help with cb125 timing!   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #6478 of 6645 |
I have just put back together my 1978 cb125s motor, and have come across
somthing that needs clarified...hopefully you can help! In my manual it says
two different ways of lining up the camshaft and crankshaft. On one page it
says that the "t" mark should be pointing straight at the camshaft and then the
"o" mark on the camshaft should be at its marker...and later it says to be sure
that the "T" is lines up the the stationary pointer (which is located at the
bottom of the alternator cover) which is directly opposite from pointing
straight at the camshaft. Can anyone clarify the correct positioning? Thanks.
Erol.

If my old brain remembers right, the crank turns twice for every turn of the camshaft, so both diagrams are correct. I don't remember the position of the...

... Wait a minute Wally... On one-piece head 100-125 single engines the "T" "TDC" or "Tappet" positions all come around once every 360 DEGREES of crankshaft ...

Mike I think that I'm smoking the same thing as Walley. My 125 experience is based on TL engines with a magneto and points on the head. Now I have always...

I don't think mine has an electric starter, which would be perfect -- my thinking is that if they can't pull start it, they are not ready to ride it. They...

Correct. I was thinking of crank-located points like on my beloved C70. On a 100-125 single the spark is only on the comppression stoke. Mike G. from my TREO -...

That's it a twingle. I'm doing a similar job on a CA95 engine in a Greeves trials frame. That one has a single solid cam that I cut between the cylinders...
