Re: [Siddeley] Re: Help! 18hp Limousine Brakes

Hello Michael,

The last line of my recent message to youshould have said that I have
had the siezed Kingpin problem (now solved) and still have the servicing
problem with the malcontent nipple, ie I have to remove the ofending
trackrod end, take out the plug from the nipple hole, put in a spare
nipple and insert grease then replace the nipple hole plug and put the
trackrod end back on. About half an hour to put grease in one hole.

I guess looking back on some jobs that that could be good for a
Siddeley? Each time though I have to buy a new nipple because I cannot
find the one I so carefully put away.

You can buy the red fluid grease (solid oil) from Forest Lubricants in
whatever ammounts you want within reason. I bought a gallon last time
and it is not expensive.

A serious electrical challenge eh? We will have to compare notes at
National. I have just bought a nice shiny new replacement voltage
regulator (5 screw terminal type) from AES for £21 and intend to replace
the resistor control dashboard switching system on my 20 with it to stop
it boiling the battery fluid on long runs, keeping the fuses in the old
fusebox in use for appearances sake of course. Then there are the
reverse warning light and siren to fit. After which there's hazard
lights ----- it never ends!

Frank
