I want to thank SMA again for the support we received last year as we plunged
into the motorcycle event business. Although we were unable to stage our amazing
event at the venue we had originally chose, we think our inaugural event was
successful. We did everything right! 4 nights of national act entertainment went
off without a hitch. Saturday night's headliner, Heidi Newfield, was recently
nominated for 5 CMA awards!
The new venue turned out to be a superb place to have a bike rally – great
camping, immaculate grounds & a supportive town - City Council, Mayor & Police
Chief. We are working around the clock to make this year's event even better &
have moved our dates to 4th of July / Independence Day weekend – July 3rd – 6th
.
I produced a 40 minute documentary film, "Ain't No Sin to Ride," about the event
that received great reviews from national best-selling author, Bill Hayes, in
the March issue of Thunder Press (pg 108). (The DVD is for sale on our website
for $14.95 + s/h & sales tax (www.shastarally.com).) With the cancellation of
the Hollister Rally again this year, we were able to add Seth Doulton / Horse
Power Promotions (www.horsepowerpromotions.com) as a valued consultant.
We are lining up the best biker music in the country to play in our Wings2Fly
Saloon, a 12k sq ft building we convert to our bar – the social hub of the
Rally. Once again, Debbie's bar will be staffed by the friendliest best looking
people in the business. We have all the traditional bike games run by the
"Boogieman" with beautiful trophies for the winners. We also have professionals
to referee our Friday night arm wrestling contest.
The center piece of the Rally will be AVTT's Cost of Freedom & Traveling Wall
displays (www.avtt.org) – a football field of an 80% scale replica of the Viet
Nam Wall in Washington DC & a large additional series of displays that honor the
men & women who have given their lives in American war campaigns since Viet Nam.
There is also a special tribute to the women who have served & paid the ultimate
sacrifice as they served America as well as a series of displays dedicated to
American citizens & civil service who perished on 9/11. After a traditional
bike blessing on Sunday, there will be a dedication ceremony of the AVTT
displays. The founders of Operation Gratitude (www.operationgratitude.com) along
with war heroes & local/ regional officials will be speaking to our crowd from a
40' X 60' pole tent located on the grounds where the displays are set up. After
these salutations, bikers will line up single file for the Ride of Honor to
salute those who paid the ultimate price. As each rider completes their ride,
they will be lining up to participate in our military tribute parade –
"Bunch-A-Thunder." The parade is named after the former Mayor of Tulelake, Mike
Bunch, & is also dedicated to our troops. The parade will feature a stunt show,
military vehicles, custom cars & a lot of motorcycles & will circle Tulelake &
head south down Main St.
Sunday is "Family Day." Minor children under 18 may enter the venue accompanied
by an adult parent or guardian & remain on the grounds until 6:00 pm.
On July 1st, there will be a short ceremony & an escort of the AVTT rig from the
parking lot at the Klamath Falls Home Depot to the Tulelake-Butte Valley
Fairgrounds for set up. We are expecting a large presence from the veteran
community, PGR, law enforcement, fire departments & the Air & Army National
Guard. All riders are invited to participate. Muster time is 1000 hrs.
Debbie & I invite all SMA members to come out & join us to enjoy your freedom at
what is destined to become the best motorcycle rally of the new millennium. 3 ½
day passes & 24 hr passes are on sale for a limited time - $50 & $20. Please
take a few minutes & visit the Rally's website to learn more. If you have any
questions please call or write to us.
Thank you.
