Stay tuned. Rain is forecast so I may avoid the Hwy 49 trip to Fresno and just take Hwy 99 depending on the "showers".On Sunday, I plan to return via Hwy 1 to Monterey then meet my friends in Cupertino for dinner (5:00pm) before returning to Placerville. My cellphone is 916-806-8707 and I will use Channel 12 on radio Friday and Sunday.Have a safe trip.

I don't know where everyone is coming from but another option is to meet on Latrobe Road near Hwy 50 to take Latrobe Road out to Jackson Hwy. Since I live in Placerville, I'm not sure if anyone wants to meet in the Sacramento area or in Jackson around noon. I know of one person that won't be able to meet us in Jackson until about 1:00p.On Friday evening the informal dinner is planned to be at 6:30pm at Fat Jack's625 W Shaw Ave

(559) 299-1104The hotel where some of the out-of-town clubs will stay on Friday night is the Ramada Inn.Diane Foster at foster1370@... can give the details for $89 rate.We will start the run on Saturday at Denny's off Jensen Ave between Hwy 99 and Hwy 41
Sharon Mack will hold a driver's meeting to describe the route and the travel procedures
and give info like the radio channels we will use at that time (around 9:00am).
I don't know the lunch location or the dinner location. I will ask Sharon Mack next week.
We have two cars that intend to meet us at the lunch location driving down Hwy 1 on Saturday morning.
You should have your reservation at the Courtesy Inn with the $45 rate.

Sunday is less formal for the return trip.
Typically we stop at the seals, Ragged Point, Monterey on the way from San Simeon to Monterery.
Hope this information helps.

thank you for your response, I have a few questions, where and what time in Jackson, the name address if available, and the address of the Dennys of the motel in Fresno that some of the miata people are staying. also is Jensen a town or a street where the dennys is located that we are meeting at on the 23th at 9:00, sorry for all the questions but I am a newbie to this, also what channel on the CB are people tuned in at. thanks again.

Hi Doug and Betty (and everyone),It was nice talking with you during the SAMOA meeting tonight. You asked me to send info so here is a summary of the SJVMC Coastal Cruise:The annual Coastal Cruise is scheduled for the weekend of Jan 24-25. On Friday, Jan 23, several of the Sacramento area Miata folks with be leaving early (meeting midday in Jackson for late breakfast or early lunch) depending on the weather we will drive Hwy 49 to Hwy 41 to Fresno. Typically we stop in Mariposa but we have lots of choices as long as we arrive in Fresno in time for dinner. Sharon Mack, the Fresno club run leader, is planning an informal dinner on Friday night at 6:30PM (Fat Jack's on Shaw). There are several options for hotels in the Fresno area. Let me know if you want to stay with the group. I have family in Fresno so I won't be staying at the hotel in Fresno. The weather may change these plans but once everyone knows their schedule, we will coordinate. Bring your family radio (or CB) if you have one.. I usually pack snacks and water too. Prepare for all types of weather...parka to swimsuit....layers are a good idea.Saturday morning, typically we meet for breakfast at Denny's on Jensen in Fresno near Hwy 41 then leave about 9:00am for a scenic drive to the Coast. Eventually we will arrive in San Simeon where the hotel is located. See below for phone number to make reservations. We usually have lunch together and also dinner. There is no registration fee but budget for the cost of your meals and the cost of the hotel(s).This is a regional event so we have folks from LA and Sac and SF areas coming together to enjoy the drive up the California Coast on Hwy 1. Assuming we have good weather, the views are breathtaking. Even in the rain the views are spectacular. Our Northern group typically drives up the coast to Monterey on Sunday then heads back to Sacramento.
I starting to get excited. Let me know if you have any questions. website is www.sjvmc.net

Sixteenth Annual Coastal Cruise
January 24-25 2009
Meet at Denny's on Jensen at Hwy 99
Drivers meeting at 9:00, come earlier if you want to eat breakfast
Lunch will be in Paso Robles, dinner in Cambria, and our motel will
once again be the Courtesy Inn in San Simeon. Our rate will be $45 as in years past, call 805-927-4691 and tell them you're with "The Miata Club"
I've found several "new" roads for us to explore on Saturday, Sunday is open for everyone to choose what they'd like to do, enjoy Hwy 1 up to Monterrey, shop the many unique niches of Cayucos and Moro Bay, or just meander home.
No RSVP required, but a headcount will help me alert our restaurants...
