9,998 members attended tonight's SDMC meeting. It would have been an
even 10,000 but I hear a couple of members in an..err... "Award-
Winning American Classic" broke down on the side of the road. Anyway,
when asked how many would be attending the Twilight Run, everyone
raised their hands. So, it looks like we'll have a good turnout.
Cathy and I pre-ran the route today and, surprise, all of the
familiar roads are still there! We had a few close calls with a
couple of kamikazi squirrels, but we did not produce any (new)
roadkill. Maybe that will change on Saturday? Thunderstorms did
build over the mountains but we didn't see any rain (we were done
with the pre-run by 2pm). We did hear, however, that Laguna got
quite a bit of rain later in the day. Around 6pm. Might happen
again on Saturday. Or, might not. In either case, we're going! If
we hit a stray thunderstorm, just keep moving to keep dry.
The driver's meeting on Saturday will start promptly at 5:00pm. If
you get there late, we may very well be gone. Arrive early (3:30pm
or so) to have a late lunch in one of the many eateries located in
the meeting place shopping center.
The driver's meeting will be held in the parking lot area located
between the TGI Friday's and the KFC/A&W restaurant.
Please have a full tank of gas BEFORE 5:00pm. There is a Mobil
station in the shopping center.
A reminder for those of you coming down from points North
(particularly those coming down I-5)... It's racing season at Del
Mar. The I-5 can get pretty jammed up, particularly heading south.
A couple of years ago, I recall one fellow traveling down from LA
county that spent something like 5 hours on the freeway and STILL
didn't make it in time. Please allow plenty of time.
Again, the details are:

Looking forward to seeing all of the shiny Miatas on Saturday!
