If you plan to do off-roading with the club, buy a Rubicon. If you also need to use the Jeep as a daily driver, avoid big lifts and other modifications that will increase maintenance and reduce road-worthiness.
Also, the 07-08 Rubicon has plenty of stock ground clearance, so unless you want to do trails that risk serious body damage, you need not lift or re-gear this model for the trails. I rented one in Colorado and will never try to modify another "lesser" Wrangler model.
