The 4.56 gears would give you decreased mileage. I have a 2003 Rubicon with a 4 inch lift and 33" with the stock 4.11 gears. My mileage improved a little with the larger tires, but not much.

4.56 were to low wiht 33s? I was thinking about swithing out my 3.73s for 4.56s, Was your MPG to low? righ tnow I am getting 12.5MPG average on a 2006 wrangerl X with 4 inch lift 33X10.50 on stocck rims. I do mostly city driving very little highway and was thinking the 4.56 might giver alittle better milage with alot of stop and go traffic and if I ever want to go to 35s I wouldn't have to switch out gears. I have had my jeep over a year now and oly have 7,000 miles on it that tells you how much highway driving I do.

3" lift (with swaybar disconnects) and 33's (M/T's)
are a great combo for everyday use. I'm sure that
many will disagree with my conservative position, but
my own personal experience suggests a host of
trade-offs associated with going bigger than that.
And even with 33's, you may find it necessary to
change the ring and pinions to something like 4.11 if
your Unltd is not a Rubicon.
Friends who've gone the 35" route on a daily driver
have typically worn-out drivetrain components on the
street and broken axle shafts on the trail.
With 33's I had none of the above mentioned ills. I
did run 4.56 gears, which I found to be too much on
the highway, so I'd stick with the 4.11-type gearing.
(I found stock gearing to be insufficient to maintain
speed on hills and overpasses without a lot of
annoying downshifting (with a 5-speed trans.)
