The R6 has been sold and is on its way to cali.I am concentrating full
time on my son who has been tearing it up racing motocross so the
buggies will have to wait a while.I do still have my KLR650 powered
sidewinder for sale for $2100.00 FIRM.
Hopefully you cali guys will see my R6 in front of you at the track
very soon.

I've got an Edge HyperSprint and a homebuilt (not by me) that looks
like a Sand bullet. It has a terrible suspension design. I've got
plans for just about every buggy out there...just wanted to learn
about them, so I could fix the suspension. I've just been working too
much lately.

You'll find more activity at www.minibuggy.net ...there don't seem to
be a lot of Rorty builders here. A lot of them hang out on the Edge,
Desert Karts, and Badlands sites because of the activity, but they
all seem to congregate at minibuggy.

Hi again Cliff
Bob told me that it  would be easy to widen just the passenger compartment to make the r6 into a 2 seater, what type of buggy do you have and how do you like it, and do you have any photos.
Thanks Jerry

Bill, what did you use for the rack and pinion on your sidewinder, and
do you have any pics on how to shorten it? Also what did you wind up
with as a measurment from eye to eye? Are you using the same on your
new build? Ted

Hello, Since my last post nothing new has happeneed with the build :(
On the bright side I am getting caught up on the millons of loose
ends and finacial obligations i have been dealing with so hopefully i
can get going soon.Dont give up on me and check back time to
time,This will get done someday. BUT
I do have a offer i am throwing out just for the hell of it.I am
considering selling both my raceready sidewinder and my 60% complete
Rorty R6 motor in all for 7 grand USD FIRM. Between the 2 i have over
$12000.00 and several thousand hours invested.
I will continue the build like i never made this offer,I am just
keeping some other options open. The biggest reason for this is i am
having a blast racing with the group of people i race with and the R6
will just be a unfair and not fun race with these people and i have
no interest in moving up a class.
If these did sell i will be building a comperable (sp) (to a pilot)
powered car that should make for some great racing.
For those that know me personally dont read into this to much,I
dought they will sell and it will be back to buisness as usual,If
they do sell it will be a busy winter but at least i will have the
cash to complete it by spring.
Any questions,Just ask.

BTW I am located in Grand Rapids Michigan

What a fun night. First off anyone building anything powered by a
crotch rocket motor should send your wire harness to mike dicely at
www.hyperracing.com. He will completely rebuild your harness and get
rid of everything you dont need including controls like dash
cluster, key ignition and starting controls. He eliminates all the crap
that gives everyone so much trouble tracking down like sidestand
switch, neutral switch, antitheft diode, tip over fuel cut out.The new
harness is small and easy to understand. He will rebuild yours for
$150.00 USD.
I had already bought all the controls that i thought i would need and
now i can resell those,I have like 250.00 into the parts i can now
resell so this is very cost effective.
Anyway the new harness arrived today,It took me about 10 min to plug
everything in and give it a little bump to see if it turns over which
it did so i knew the harness was right.Remember i bought this gsxr
1000 motor on ebay nearly 2 years ago from a guy that said it has sat
in his garage for over a year so i had no idea if it was even
seized,Supposedly it only has 5k on it.
So now i am eager to see if it will fire but i dont have my gas tank
or radiator plumbed in yet so a quick squirt of ether (i know and i
dont need a lecture from you antietherites, haha) Ok so a little
squirt give it a bump and it instantly fires.
Now am i geeked to hear it run so i plumb the tank and rad dump some
gas in,fill the radiator and then remmber all i have is 4 independent
exhaust pipes about 18" long as a header,Bascially a short 4 into 4
open header,Oh this might hurt!!!
I turn on the fuel pump and hear gas,Thats a good thing to have, Give
it a bump and HOLY CRAP IT RUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now i am jumping around
like a damn fool with excitment.Right away i had to nextel my friends
so they could here it,I know what your saying but hey its been along
time waiting to hear that sound.
Unfortunally the rorty is still along way from driving but this was a
huge step.
Thanks to mike from hyperracing.com for this one.

Finally tired of Yahoo groups and the lack of a good buggy
fabrication forum. The lack of photo storage, usable search function
and categories on Y-groups is driving me nuts. So this weekend I put
together a site using phpPBB's latest release. Over 20 mods have been
added to give the site even more user friendly options. There is not
a lot of content yet and the site still needs work. It is operational
and fully functional right now though with 3 gigs of storage for
photos and other files.
http://minibuggy.amergins.com
Currently the site is pointed to a sub domain of my main account. I
will register a new domain name and direct it to the site if everyone
feels they could and would use this it. The idea was not to limit the
site to just one buggy design of topics. I've added several
categories and sub-categories. All of which will be up to the
community to decide on. Nothing works in a vacuum so user input will
be used to make the site better. Several moderators and one admin
would also be needed to help me maintain the site. The
admin (access to site controls) I would decide on, the mods will be
voted into existence by the users.
One of the best mods added is the PHPBB Blog mod. I know, bah who
needs a blog. However, I modified it to become a Project build log or
Plog. Post entry's are in chronological order rather then newest
entry first. This allows the project flow from beginning to end and
is much easier to read. The Project Build Logs would be restricted to
people that actually have a project in progress and is user
maintained through the site. I've started one as a sample. The build
logs will remain after the completion of the project for a record.
For photo storage I added the Attachment mod. The best part is it can
be used for not only pics but PDF, DWG, TXT and any others we decide
are needed.
I could go on but it's best if you check it out yourself. Let me know
what you think.

I have had a major set back on the r6. My septic tank finally took a

system is now in.I have a ton a work and $$ to get my yard back in
shape.

Eldon those look very heavy.I assume that 15" dune buggy wheels would be much lighter than car wheels.Bob calls for .190 aluminum wheels.I think thats about equivelant to a douglas red label.
Maybe something like this?
Ebay... centerline search.....

and more.....

Eldon.

The rims i bought are 12x7 not 8's and are 4/110 not 4/130.
I have since been talking with bob and he thinks these may not be the
best choice and prefers using like a 15X6 douglas or centerline.I was
originally going to go that route but i found it near impossible to
find somewhere to get them.
If anyone has a links for wheels let me know.
I will probally just use the wheels i just bought on my sidewinder.

--- I should clarify a couple mistakes.

I won a set of 2 itp "c" series 12X8 wheels on ebay tonight.Actually
i snipped them at the last second for $62.00 + $15.00 shipping USD.
These wheels are new in original packaging.I will be using these in
the front of the R6 which i currently have 4 on 4" hubs installed.
The new wheels are 4/130mm. I am working on making some AL wheel
adaptors to the correct pattern. The adapators will increase the total
track width by 1 1/2" (31.75mm) which should be fine and give more
room from front brakes.

How do you size a master cylinder to your caliper.I am looking at
some wilwood calipers for the R6.
for the rear i want to use a 4 piston and a single piston at each
wheel in the front.I want seperate brake pedels for front and rear.
How do i know what size master cylinders to use?

It's just like that to be something small that is causing all the
problems...

I think a "SHOP CAM" would be kinda cool... I look forward to seeing
your progress

Well after a couple weeks on messing around i am finnaly on line
out in the shop.I ended up bring my hard drive down to a repair shop
and they found that all the drivers had been deleated and needed
reinstalled. They reworked the whole pc and did a new installe on
everything for $80.00.So i brought the pc home and it worked fine but
still would not connect the internet.I have the shop pc connected to
a linksys router at the house,The router has lights that show when a
pc is properly connected, the house pc would show a solid light on the
router while the shop pc would have a blinking light.I called
linksys, best buys and radio shack and talked to 3 different tech guys
and they all said the blinking light was fine.B.S. Shows what they
know.My shop pc is about 175' from the router so i had made my own
patch cable,I found the problem was with one of my crimped ends that
i did,As soon as i found the problem and corrected it both lights
stayed on steady and the pc connected to the net so here i am.Now you
guys i have to deal with me much more often.I am considering hooking
up a shop build cam. What do you think?
