Important Meeting concerning El Paso County OHV Park   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #98 of 160 |
The RRMMC is asking you to please take a moment to read this
important notice from COHVCO concerning the proposed new OHV park in
El Paso County. Not only will a new close-proximity riding area
provide more riding opportunities, it will help share some of the
load of traffic at Rampart, making a better experience for everyone.

If you think having more close-in riding opportunities is a good
thing, please show your support and attend this important meeting!

PLEASE PASS THIS ON!!

The State Parks Board will be reviewing the future of the El Paso
County OHV Park this upcoming Friday, February 22, 2008 during the
State Park Board meeting at 10 a.m. at the Embassy Suites, 7290
Commerce Center Drive, Colorado Springs (Woodmen and 1-25) - Ballroom
Section C.

THE PARK KILLERS "WILL BE THERE IN LARGE NUMBERS"!!
WE (OHV ENTHUSIASTS) NEED TO "ATTEND AND DEMONSTRATE SUPPORT FOR THE
PROJECT"!!

10:00 AM FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 2008
EMBASSY SUITES HOTEL, COLORADO SPRINGS, CO

WHEN IN COLORADO SPRINGS:
From I-25, Take the WOODMEN ROAD exit- EXIT 149.
Turn onto E WOODMEN RD 1/10th Mile to
COMMERCE CENTER DRIVE 3/10ths Mile to end at
Embassy Suites-Colorado Springs:
7290 Commerce Center Dr, Colorado Springs, CO 80919

It's important we be there!

The State Park Board will consider the following resolution from the
State Trails Committee:

Motion by Deb Thorson: Recommend approval of OHV Grant #31 El Paso
County OHV Park however, with a two step process in the contract.
Planning money would be made available right away to complete the
site master planning process. The land acquisition money would be
made available contingent on the outcome of the site master planning
process presentation made to the State Trails Committee in June. Gary
Buffington seconded the motion. In Favor of approving the motion:
Kevin Hall, Kae Rader, Debra Thorson, Britt Weygandt, Gary
Buffington. One Opposed: Dick Bratton
It appears the State Parks Board has the following options: (1) Elect
to not approve the resolution and provide no funding (2) Approve the
proposed resolution (3) Disregard the proposed resolution and approve
the full grant as recommended by the OHV Sub-Committee.

At the meeting, each side will be given approximately twenty minutes
to present their report. I recognize the meeting is on a work day but
if at all possible, it would be very helpful for you to attend to
demonstrate support for the project. The opponents will certainly be
there in large numbers.

If you have questions / concerns, please contact
Tim Wolken, Director of Parks, El Paso County
