Many snowbirds like to spend lengths of Christmas-time/winter at Fort
Wilderness Campground inside Walt Disney World. This is an advisory
that when I visited the campground in late September, everything was
very dry and too-open. To lessen the fire danger, Disney crews have
done heavy tree-pruning, and removal of much of the ground-
underbrush/cover. This leaves the sites looking bare, and removes much
of the privacy and secluded-feeling of this campground since you can
now see into adjacent sites, and roadways.
In addition to site repairs/modification, some Disney Cabins (log-sided
trailers) have been moved onto some preferred/close sites. Winter-
Season "settlers" may find changes to their favorite campground loop.
A new entertainment option is an organized Seqway cross-country ride on
a special off-road version of the stand-up people-mover. Golf cart &
bike rentals, horse, carriage and hayrack rides still remain available
at a price.
