Our "Women On Wheels -Rain City Riders" group met the other night and I reminded everyone about the ride on the 15th. We will have several women from our group attending the ride; we're all super excited about meeting and getting a chance to ride with women riders from the Gig Harbor and south cities!
Feel free to call if you need any help connecting with riders or shops in the Seattle area; I don't know everyone, but I do know people who know people... cell: (206) 234-6141.
Looking forward to the 15th. See you then.

Just thought I'd check in with you all and let you know I've got the route DONE - it'll be a nice ride and if the sun is out we'll be looking at snow-capped mountains and/or water pretty much all day long!
I have not been able to get out and about and get many flyers or posters up and around so if you have some time please feel free to post some flyers at your local motorcycle shops and bars and wherever...
THANKS MUCH and see you soon!!!

Beth and I are getting ready for our motorcycle trip to Montana; leaving this Friday morning. *yeah* Like most riders I know, I hate making packing lists, but really don't have the time to sit for an hour or so and try to remember all the things I'd normally forget without a good list. And then there is the issue of bringing items that you really don't need unless you work from a well thought out list.
What's a computer geek to do? Well, go on the Internet of course!
You can check/uncheck any items, then at the bottom of the webpage hit "Make a Checklist" and it will print out your custom list. Couldn't be easier...unless maybe I can find a way to get someone to pack for me online... hmmmmmmm...
Happy riding!!

We ARE on for the Big 4 ride on July 29th. The other rides and their dates are still up in the air. I will post them on our group calendar and send a copy email to everyone when I get a chance.
Here's the minutes from our meeting this past Thursday at Olympic
Pizza in Wallingford.
Robin accepted our chapter "donations" and handed out receipts. We
have an official checking account and rubber stamp for the chapter.
Yay Robin!
To become a fully formed and recognized Women on Wheels chapter, we
are going to need at least 10 women to join the chapter who are also
National WOW members. Eventually we will need every member of our
chapter to be National WOW members. For more detailed information
on what that entails and what the benefits are, please check out: www.womenonwheels.org
LeAnne discussed the Girls' Day Out Ride on July 15th. Several of
the members present will be attending the ride. It starts in Gig
Harbor, goes up Hood Canal and returns in one day. The cost of
registration is $40 if you register by July 1, afterwards it's $50.
The proceeds go to charity. LeAnne will post the website for that
ride.
LeAnne presented 4 ride possibilities:
2 were day trips: Whidbey Island/Fort Casey/Coupeville ride (Easy)
and the Big Four Ice Caves ride (easy to moderate)
2 were overnight rides: Cougar Campout ride (moderate to experienced)
and Olympic Range ride (Easy to moderate)
LeAnne will be posting the details, including maps, of these rides
soon. We discussed July 29th as a probable date for the Big Four
Ice Caves Ride. Everyone should look at their August calendars and
see what their schedules are for possible August rides. We
officially adopted the Destination Highways ride rating system for
rating our rides. For those of you who may not be familiar with
that book, you should check it out... it is amazing. One of us will
bring out copy to the next meeting.
We officially gave kudos to Patty for her TCLOCK safety posting.
Awesome, Patty! Keep up the good work!
If anyone has anything to add to these minutes that I may have
forgotten, please speak up!

I have some great local rides and a couple over-nighters in mind and will bring the destination and dates to the meeting.
If anyone has ride suggestions, or would like to mention a ride that another group(s) is sponsoring let me know; I'll happily add it to the list for this summers fun.
Mary, I will bring my WOW member number and $12 donation tonight.

willing to create separate checks (although anyone who wants to double up is
more than welcome!). They'll automatically add 18% to your check so
you won't need to add an additional tip. They have pizza, Italian stuff,

Hi girls,
What do you think about adding people to the RCR Yahoo group if they’re not yet WOW members and maybe don’t plan to join WOW. I don’t want to maintain 2 lists but we probably really need to make sure that everyone has a WOW member number. On the one hand people need to know about what we’re doing to see if they want to join. Maybe we should add new people (who are not official members) but keep their access to YahooGroups restricted to read only. (Listen to me…I had joined the south end group in February, got on their list but didn’t actually join WOW until November!)
But what do you think?

I apologize in advance for sending this email with your email addresses in the To: line but I wanted to make sure it didn't get pushed to you spam folders.
The reason I'm sending you this email is that (at the women's brunch at Seattle Cycle Center in April) you expressed an interest in a new Women on Wheels Chapter that's forming in the Seattle area. This is a great opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a great group of women banding together to have fun, ride, and enjoy each other's company. That's our mission!

This will give you a chance to meet us and see what you think. Please reply to this email if you are planning to attend or if you can't make it but are still interested in our group. If you don't want any further emails from us (I can't imagine why!) also, please send me an email and I'll remove you from the list. I'm going to be riding over the Leavenworth, WA this Saturday for a course I'm taking with the Mountaineers. Unfortunately, I have to be there by 7:30am, so I'll be leaving Seattle at an obscene early morning hour. Fortunately it's a gorgeous ride, the weather looks good, and leaving early means NO traffic to fuss with. See below if you are interested.
Details: Date: Saturday, June 3rd Meet: Starbucks, Lake City Way and 145th. Time: 4:45am **eeks!* Destination: Leavenworth, WA Main Road: Hwy 2 Distance: 110 miles
Travel Time: 2.25 hours one-way Heading Home: 4-5pm
If you don't want to be up before the sun, but still want to ride, I'd
be happy to plan to meet anyone in downtown Leavenworth for a pack ride
on the return trip home.
Give me a shout to let me know you're coming: (206) 234-6141.
Happy and safe riding!

I was planning on posting a ride to the group earlier this week, but the long range forecast was calling for rain, rain, and more rain. Well, that doesn't seem to have been correct for today and the revised forecast is for sun tomorrow.
If anyone is up for a ride I'll be at the Starbucks on Lake City Way and 145th NE, next to the Walgreen's @ 10am. The plan is to head out to Duvall, past Monroe and up some very nice and quiet back roads to Verlot. This is super short notice, so I understand if I end up enjoying a nice solo ride tomorrow.
The next few months more predictable weather will provide plenty of time to make some longer range ride plans so keep an eye on the group site and your email the next week as rides are posted.
Great! Hope to see you there.

If the ride is a bit more time then you have to spare on such short notice,
maybe do a quick ride on over to Starbucks to meet for coffee before the

Sorry this is a little late in getting out, but here are the notes from last week's meeting.
We had a long discussion about the group's name, and narrowed it down and narrowed it down until we decided on Rain City Riders. It sounds great! (To celebrate the name, LeAnne and I rode in the rain last weekend. Just so you know, the name works wonderfully!)
And now we have switched from the MyRoadDivas yahoo group to this Rain City Riders group. Also, Mary has grabbed www.RainCityRiders.org from GoDaddy.com, so when we are ready, we can get a site up and running! Very cool!
We also voted on officers last week. Here's the roundup: Chapter Director: Mary DeMange Chapter Treasurer: Robin Lunsford Chapter Ride Mistress: LeAnne Livingston Chapter Safety Officer: Patty Dodd Chapter Secretary/Web Master: Beth Skoczen
We decided that we will have chapter donations (non-dues) of $12 a year. These will help get us started as a chapter of WOW, and various other things, like the website, etc. These are due now payable to our illustrious treasurer, Robin, and they will be a rolling renewal, each year due in January. Please mail your donations to Robin as soon as you can. She posted her snail mail address to everyone already.
Meanwhile, we decided that we will have monthly meetings every 2nd Thursday of the month. That makes our next meeting June 8th. I believe we decided on the Northgate Azteca as our location, but please double check your reminders, in case that changes.
Our Ride Mistress has already started working her magic and is gathering ride suggestions, asking for ride availability for this month, and I see postings about a Girls Day Out ride on July 15th. Sounds like we will make our debut as an organized chapter on that day! Shine up yer bikes! Please sent any ride ideas to LeAnne, or post away right here.
That was our meeting in a nutshell, plus any additional happenings ever since. Please add comments if I forgot anything. I neglected to take good notes until AFTER I became the secretary, so I promise to do better in future meetings.

Ah, I see that the "Rich Text Editor (Beta)" on our site likes to push words together and play with spacing. Next time I'll stick with sending in "Plain Text" until the rich text moves out of Beta.
I emailed Gail, the ride coordinator for the "Girls DayOut Ride", and asked about the ride route. She is very excited to hear that our newly forming chapter would beparticipating in the ride and is looking forward to meeting and riding withus.
She provided the ride route and roaddetails below.I have made a basic mapof the route and will happily forward it on to anyone who is interested.
