Actually, there is. You'll end up riding the brakes more during the downhill
thus causing unnecessary wear to the pads.
The Prius knows exactly what to do with any excess energy during long
downhills, whether the battery is fully charged or not. Shifting to neutral
and coasting downhill is leftover from your grandparents' legacy. There
is absolutely no technical or logical justification for it.
