Now, for me, advertising simply provides a service. It tells me
something is available. Without the advertising, I may not have known
it was available.
Knowing that it is available, I decide for myself whether or not I
want it.
For example. I see a lot of advertising for Wii. I have no desire to
have one, attractive advertising has not cultivated a desire in me to
have one, and I won't go out and buy one. They could even advertise
with naked ladies, and it would not influence me to buy a Wii, unless
I already had the desire to own something like that.
Just to test to do a quick sanity check, Mark, has any of their
advertising made you feel like you "needed" a Silverado? If no, then
you are the same way as me, and determine your own wants and needs.
Oh... my MacBook Pro really kicks some butt, but not as hard as my
MacPro quad core! And I might actually really "need" an octocore
soon, because my 3d rendering business is starting to bring the quad
core to its knees. But advertising didn't make me do it.
