Welcome to PontiacBigGuns, the site for lovers of the full-sized Pontiacs from their beginnings through 1976, the last year of the GM giants. U.S. as well as foreign Pontiac monsters are featured here like nowhere else on the net.
Why this site? These beautiful and powerful Pontiac giants are largely overlooked as the unique classics that they are. No on else out there is discussing, for instance, the uniqueness of the '60s Bonneville and Exectutive as a GM B-Body vehicle, such as the elongated trunk--stretching these models out to be an average of 7" longer than Catalina or Ventura, and longer in fact than ALL the other GM B-Bodies. Or the fact that its wheelbase averaged 3 inches longer than the other Pontiac full-size vehicles.
When I was growing up, my parents bought a brand new Fathom Blue 4-door Brougham that forever enamored me of the architecture of the automobile. It was enormously long, and sleekly low, a luxuriously sporty look which the competing --but haughty-- C-Bodies of that year could not attain. I haven't come across many vehicles that inspire the same excitement, and I finally own one of my own!
Hats have to go off to Pontiac's 60s big car designers. Their collective cool eye for sporty style created some of the most innovative and beautiful full-size vehicle designs ever.
Photos of your classic Pontiac are welcome and appreciated! Email your photos to the moderator with text to have your vehicle featured on the site in a "MEMBER SPOTLIGHT" feature!
Enjoy!
Dan
