Hi all in PTC,
Kristine and I miss the Northwest let me tell you. But, we have
found some solace in joining STOA here in the Bay Area.
At the first STOA meeting Kristine and I attended the subject of the
TAC database which was compromised due to a computer crash was
brought up by Tom Hall. During the discussion the cost of software,
computer, and someone to create a modern relational database was
estimated to be in excess of $4K or $5K including a programmers' time
to do the database. It would have to be restored from the existing
hard copies of the TAC forms. A daunting task to say the least.
So, I stuck up my hand and volunteered to do the job. I requested
the club me a computer and the SW and I would do it for free. In the
end Dave Stone, of Tiger #55 fame, donated a computer and I donated
most of the SW. Total cost for everything was under $500 and a nice
savings for the club.
STOA now has an electronic database with which to enter and study
data, cool. We have also supplied the new information to Norm Miller
and he has added the updated data to his site.
Kristine and I will be in Portland and the Whidbey Island areas
during the first two weeks of August. We plan on visiting as many
people in the club as possible.
On another front we took possession of a Tiger, color code 106, of
course on the day before Thanksgiving 2007. Thanksgiving Day after
cleaning it up we went for drive and the throttle stuck wide open. I
was in a parking lot and before I could get it under control I struck
a curb. Upon inspection, all four wheels and the cross-member were
damaged. Tom Hall is replacing my non-repairable front end and I am
doing a rotisserie restoration of the car. Kristine and I hope to
have it on the road next summer.
Best wishes,
Ross "Commodore Blues" Hulse
