Mike, it looks like at least 2 of us are going to head to the Granite Falls area
on saturday, if the weather stays dry. I have to take care some work but should
be done by 9AM. We might ride Sunday too, weather permitting. (we are pretty
much strictly fair weather riders, at least dry) We are just gonna play it by
ear in the AM but get out as early as we can after 9. We will probably meet
somewhere near the intersection of 520 & 405 & head north from there. I can give
you a call or vice versa if you want to try & meet up. 206-391-0620. I try &
check the email messages too.
Talk to you to later and hope to see you on the road!

I saw your photos. When you view them, see if it says "view full

says "delete full size". Only the person who posts a photo and the

Likewise for State Farm. Incredibly cheap motorcycle insurance as long as you insure a car.

Four full coverage insurance with a $500 deductable I want to say I'm paying $180 every six months.
Thier rates for auto insurance were a little more than I had been paying in the past... but the savings on the bike was such that it didn't matter.

I tried Dairyland and it was also about the same around $900. One company quoted me $2000! Thanks for your advice. I will check on some insurance brokers. Thanks.
I recommend to never buy insurance from a Name Brand Insurance Agency.
An agent for Farmers, AllState, etc. legally works for, and represents, the insurance company. If you go to your agent and ask the simple question: "I have had an accident. Should I report it to the company and let the insurance pay for the repairs, or am I better off paying for this one myself?" Guess what? You have just declared the accident to an "agent of the company." Whether you pay for the repairs yourself or not, the accident is reported to the company.
However, if you buy your insurance thru an independent agency, they legally are your agent and represent you. You can ask them the above question, and if you elect not to inform the insurance company of the accident, the agent cannot inform the company.
I presently have Dairyland Insurance thru an independent agent on my 1998 Triumph Trophy and am paying $285 a year with all levels of insurance protection increased well above minimum. The rate is acceptable, and the service has always been great.

So I have my bike lifted up, and both wheels off right now to get
some new rubber on for the weekend.
I used the rear wheel stand to get the back off the ground, and level
the bike side-to-side. Easy
Without a front end stand (yet) I had to be a little more creative:
I sunk a pair of HUGE lag screws into a beam in my garage about two
feet apart (above the front end of my bike). The end of the lag
screws have a super-heavyweight eye bold on the end.
I then used two racheted tie downs looped around the headset going to
each eye bolt. Racted the front up, no problem. Two more tie downs
looped over the handlebars act as insurance (just in case somthing
goes wrong with one of the two main supports). The only risk is the
eye bolt coming out of the beam (which seems damn near impossible).
A small steel box under the engine ads a little more insurance.
It looks precarious, but seems to work well. The bike looks like
it's cast in some weird S&M flick though, suspended from the ceiling
of my garage sans wheels. I'll have to post a pic.
Mike H
PS - Love the single sided swingarm! Once the pipe is out of the
way, the rear comes off in less than a minute. I had both wheels off
in about 30 minutes total. 1/2 of that was figuring out how to hoist
the bike up safely. Easy!
Ryan,
If you head up north and do Granite Falls area, let me know. I'd be
interested in doing some riding there. We found some killer back
roads from Arlington to Granite Falls, and Granite Falls to Monroe.
Sunday is out... but Saturday (or even Monday).

Mike: I joined two days ago. I met your Dad earlier this year in
LaConner. I thought he was there to have lunch with me as part of
the PNW Ducati group, but it turned out he was just passing through
on his way to see you. LaConner would be a great place to have a
Saturday or Sunday lunch while the weather is nice. The LaConner
Pub has a nice deck out back which overlooks the waterway. I am
busy this weekend, but why don't we all think about the following
weekend, August 23-24, for an inaugural get-together?

Hi Mike and the rest of the club. I just joined because I like to
keep in touch with sportbike clubs in the northwest. I am the founder
and a moderator for NorCal Sportbikes, a Yahoo group based out of
Redding CA. You never know, we might just meet up some day on the
road.

Just joined your group, thanks for the invite Mike! I just started
another group, seattlesportbikes @

only 3 of us that are active and get together for rides. Feel free to
check it out, I will be updating the site soon with info and pictures
from our latest rides.
3 of us are planning to take a ride this weekend, either on backroads
up north to the Granite Falls area & Mt Loop Hwy, or possibly head to
the penninsula towards Hurricane Ridge? It would great to have others
join or us join up with a different ride plan.
Also, on 8/23, the Seattle/Tacoma chapter of the Renegade Pigs MC

Shores, starting in Auburn. The ride is in honor of KCSO Deputy

Thanks again Mike and hope to see you on the road! Ryan
We'll see where it goes with just word of mouth.
There was only one other "Washington Riders" type site that had more
than a dozen members. I figured this is only a day old, and we're
over half way there, so...
...it could work! Right!?!

Just a reminder...
The Wednesday Night Ride departs from Champion Cycle in Bellingahm
each week at 6:00 PM (See calander for addres and contact info).
Expect about 60-90 miles of riding followed by bech racing over
dinner.
This week they are going around Lake Whatcom with dinner at Bob's
Burger and Brew in Fairhaven (one of my favorites!).
All makes, models and riders welcome.
Sportbike night at the Ballroom is this Thursday.
7:00 PM at the Ballroom in Freemenot (see the calander for the
address).
This is a monthly event that seems to keep growing and growing.
Even if you are not a sportbike rider, the specticle of the thing is
pretty cool, and worth taking a look.
Thanks for checking out the Pacific Northwest Road Riders group on
Yahoo.
Take a minute if you are able and introduce yourself. Post
somthing. Add some events. You want to put together a ride for the
upcoming week? Post somthing and see who joins in. Whatever.
Check out the events calander, as there are dates allready with
planned events... more being added each day. Check ahead each month
to see what you want to go to, and plan ahead. If the date is in
BOLD, there is somthing going on that day.
Take a look at the polls section and help us get a sence of who's out
there riding.
Post and browse through pics as you like. I will rotate the main
screen pic weekly, so send in those good ones sent in...
... otherwise just have fun and go ride.
