RE: [MCC] TOW-STER Emergency Carrier Acts Like A Trailer - $395(+S&H)

I don't know about towing a Goldwing. I don't know how the rear
wheel is lubricated but have my doubts that it's some kind of pressurized
system. I think you failed to peruse the instructions and the video
thoroughly before passing judgment. The Tow-Ster has it's own swivel so the
motorcycle doesn't have to swivel. It swivels just like a normal trailer
hitch does. I towed my old AJS many, many miles with a similar device my dad
and I home made. Mine did NOT have a swivel and it was impossible to back up
and any tight corners caused the bike to lean profusely. This device seems
to have cured that problem. The other problem I had was that tying the forks
down that tight blew the oil seals in the front forks. I think that was also
a by product of the lack of swivel as I tied down the forks of my trailered
bikes in the same manner and never had a problem. However, the bikes on my
trailer were tied at the front AND back more evenly.
It's not a bad product but I agree that it's way over priced. I
think all that this spammer has accomplished is giving away his idea. Any
good welding shop could fabricate a similar device for less than half the
price.
Just my opinion and free advice is usually worth what it costs. (;-) Check
your Harbor Freight catalogs frequently.<G>

My understanding is that its not wise to tow a motorcycle with the rear tire
on the ground. Someone once told me that doing so will ruin a Goldwing.
Something about proper lubrication. It also says you can back up, but
motorcycles can't pivot like a normal trailer. I can jack knife a trailer if
I have someplace tight, but would think this thing would snap the outrigger
bars while backing. I like the idea...maybe I'm wrong...been wrong once
before :) just my thoughts!

PS. This guy spammed the group! Check out the email address of the Tow-ster
advertiser.

You're absolutely right. An oversight on my part. Apologies to the group. At least it was sorta-kinda motorcycle related though and not someone trying to sell...

I was okay with letting it slip through. It let me know that there is another option out there to help get a disabled bike home. The only thing not mentioned...
