Re: SAT JUL 19 - Minn-Max Picnic   Message List

Oops on the date.  Tom is correct that I meant this Saturday, July 19.  Tom, thanks for spotting it and also for being at least semi-amenable to leading a group to ice cream *grin*.  I will certainly count you and Lee in.

A specific time has not been set yet, though as one can imagine it will be somewhere around midday to early afternoon.  That will be included in the details posted on Thursday.

What to bring is food and drink for you and anyone you are bringing.  If you would like, one can also bring chips, pickles, or any fun side they might want to share with their fellow scooterists.

Thank you to Brian as well for his words of warning about road constuction in the area.  I will try to check out any potential ice cream route prior to putting together the direction sheet.

Denise, sorry the picnic won't work for you, but it would be great if you did join us for the ice cream run.  Type of frozen treat is likely to be of the Mom & Pop variety, just checking on the status of a couple places to be sure.  I'll be sure to include that info in the details going out on Thursday.

Greetings fellow Minn-Max'rs!

This Saturday, July 19, is the date of the Minn-Max Picnic.  This would be a Destination Ride meaning we would each ride to it how we wish, meeting to share some camaraderie.  As our picnic ride, we also each would be responsible for bringing our own food and drink.

In looking for places to hold the event, one that was suggested was Baker Park Reserve on the west side of Hennepin County.  In looking it over it does offer free admission and parking in a beautiful park feature Lake Independence.  The area, while still fairly close to the metro, does have some very nice roads that can be used to get to it while avoiding the more congested highways.

Look for more details on the outing by late Thursday.

A few questions...
--------------------------------------
1. Who is planning to attend the picnic?

2. Is anyone interested in a short, scenic ride (~25 miles) to Delano for ice cream after?

3. Provided a direction sheet and GPS file is available, would you be willing lead a few folks on the ride?
