-sorry it took so long for me to get back to you.. the preload is set to maintain down pressure on voyager wheels so the will not come off the ground in turns...
I see in the install guide, the rear suspension should only be 1/3 to 1/2 inch ? into/over that bearing in the rear. What happens if you are in an inch or more...

--no there should not be any rocking..sounds like you need to sqare it with the bike and make sure it is even with the bike frame..measure from rear axel on...
I did the measurement and it was equal on both sides. I know at the MTC site they mention that for preload a Sportster usually does not need it. I have not...
